This was a gift for a very artistic young lady (age 8). I don't know how the gift went over with her, but I can speak for the quality and appeal of the item. I liked the idea of a compact art portfolio so much that I ordered 2 more of these for my kids (age 7 and 5). I'm holding them for our next family trip to keep them busy on the road. I like the fact that this is a "green" product and that the paper pad is a standard size (easily refillable). I tend to prefer giving gifts that encourage a child's artistic side, and this one fits the bill!
