You are supposed to be able to fill it with water and have water spray out when thrown. However, the ball becomes heavy and difficult for my child to throw when it is wet. It would hurt if a child couldn't catch it and got hit. My son is four. It would probably be better for an older child. (Note from Fat Brain Toy: We've got the visual. If your 4 year old can't throw it, only one person is getting drenched... your 4 year old. If your 4 year old can't catch it, only one person is getting blamed when someone gets hurt - daddy? Please visit the Returns & Exchanges center for help that comes rushing in.)
