Nice Combo Gift

Looking for a gear-based toy for a 7-year old boy was harder than we expected and ended up buying toys marked 8+. This one is rated 8+ and I agree it is for an older child ready to assemble a "model". We worked on it for about an hour as a family then set it aside, only partially assembled. We'll finish it together over the weekend. Younger kids (even 8-10) will need to work on it with an adult and probably in intervals. One assembly tip - use a small paint brush (not included) to apply the glue in a more controlled manner. I really like this product overall, though. Well designed, with an intro to gear function in the manual, it will provide a good visual on the mechanics behind the musical instrument it will be once finished.
