This is a big hit!

I bought this as a baptism gift for my then 17-month old. He loved it immediately. That was a couple of months ago, and he still plays with it every day. He's below the recommended age for the produce, so he doesn't really put the animals through the hole the right way, but that doesn't stop him from enjoying it. For some reason, he's especially fond of trying to shove as many animals as he can into the little "house" intended for Noah and his wife. I think it's a testimony to how much he loves this toy that one of the first prepositions he learned to say was "through," used in reference to putting an animal through one of the openings in the house.
One warning: some of the animals are quite small. In particular, the turtles are the perfect size for a little one to choke on. At our house, the turtles and the monkeys currently live in a drawer waiting for our son to grow up a bit before they can rejoin the ark. If you are buying this for a preschool-aged child who knows not to put toys in his/her mouth, that won't be a problem, but if you have a younger child, you may want to judiciously remove the smaller animals.
My only real objection is that for most of the animals are not solid pieces of wood, like Noah and his wife, but they seem to be some type of composite covered with a veneer or paneling that has the painted face of the animal. That flat piece of wood with the design came right off of one of the pandas, and now one side of it looks ugly. Primarily the main reason I'm disappointed is that the two human figure seem so solidly made. I don't understand why Kidcraft couldn't have made all of the figures so well.
