Toy Safety Statement from Geomag
To whom it may concern,
Given the current condition and circumstances surrounding products manufactured in China (I.E. Magnetix, FP, Mattel, RC2), I just wanted to check in and see if it was time to return to the original, safe, high quality product, manufactured in Switzerland kids still love to build with? The time seems to be very critical in regards to who, how and where toys are manufactured. Recent events have certainly made people "re-think" the buying process and possibly change to more reliable manufacturers and not continue to expose themselves in any negative way.
Geomag, a Swiss manufacturer with THE ORIGINAL AND ONLY PATENTED PRODUCT has had no recall history since originating the product/category in 1999. I really feel strongly about offering Geomag as an alternative in order to alleviate any concern over any recalls or manufacturing defects because:
1. Geomag(R), a toy based on magnetic rods wrapped into plastic and nickel-plated steel spheres, is manufactured to the highest standards of safety, from the point of view both of the used material, and of the manufacturing tolerances.
2. Within the range of the Geomag(R) products, the sole element containing magnets is the magnetic rod, the other components and accessories (panels, deko-panels, etc.) are free from such element. The Geomag(R) rod is produced by means of high technology over-moulding process of its magnetic components, which physically prevent the accidental loss or loosening of such components.
3. The Geomag(R) rods, before leaving our Swiss warehouse, are checked piece by piece through an instrument control, verifying the perfect execution of the plastic over-moulding, the quality of the wrapping of the magnets and the adequate level of magnetisation. The successful fulfilment of such production stages guarantees that the Geomag(R) rods are absolutely safe and suitable for their appropriate use as magnetic construction toy.
4. The Geomag(R) products bear the Swiss Made mark and are manufactured in accordance with the rigid Swiss manufacturing's rules.
5. The Istituto Italiano Sicurezza dei Giocattoli (Italian Institute for the Safety of Toys) has ascertained and certified - committing itself on such certification - that the Geomag(R) products comply with the European Community (EC) legislation (recognised also in the U.S), with respect to their specific and adequate use and to the absence of dangerous materials.
6. The factory and employees are part of Geomag - no third party manufacturing.
The statements below demonstrate that the Geomag(R) product can not vary accidentally when it gets used as a toy according to customary standard, by children older than six years.
Unfortunately Geomag USA Inc. notes how often this essential characteristic does not apply to products similar to the Geomag(R) ones. In fact, due to cheaper production processes, such products do not incorporate and guarantee the absolute lack of accidentally loss of their magnetic components. This factual situation damages the image of the whole magnetic toys' category, for which the Geomag(R) products are manufactured with the only aim to support the children's development and education, in full respect of their safety.
Through the present communication, Geomag USA Inc. intends to safeguard the image of its products from possible generalization and puts itself at complete disposal for any kind of additional information on the quality and safety of the Geomag(R) products (see also www.geomagsa.com/certifications).
