Spark a Love of Science and Engineering Through Creative Play!

TOPICS | Education Posted Tuesday, November 19, 2013 (1,186 views)

What if instead of just playing with your dollhouse, you could design, build, and wire it all by yourself?

Roominate gives girls (6 and up) fun and easy tools to design their dream house. Girls start by engineering a unique structure with the wall and floor panels. They can build skyscrapers, restaurants, hotels, or houses complete with a balcony and slanted roof.

Next, they design staircases, bunk beds, water slides, and anything else they can imagine! Then, they make it really come alive with circuits. Girls can wire up a working elevator, windmill, merry-go-round, glowing aquarium, or desk lamp!

And the coolest part is that you can take it apart and build something new every time!

Roominate turns girls into engineers, showing them that creativity is what makes engineering fun! With Roominate, they are developing crucial STEM skills:
• Hands-on problem solving
• Spatial skills
• Self-confidence
• Story telling

We designed Roominate to spark more girls’ love of science and engineering! In the process, we realized girls are way more creative than adults (including ourselves!). In our next post, we will talk about how girls taught us to make fun and educational toys.
