Meccano Sets
Meccano model construction sets were invented in England in 1901 by a man named Frank Hornby. Meccano sets were always meant to be excellent learning tools for young minds, and they have inspired a million imaginations with their sturdy construction and simple-to-use mechanics. Today, Meccano sets are generally known by the name Erector in the United States, and at Fat Brain Toys, we carry a wide selection of Erector Sets in varying degrees of difficulty.
One of the most whimsical and fun Erector Sets that we carry is the Erector Set Speed Play T-Rex. This set actually allows you to build a motorized TRex dinosaur. This tyrannosaurus comes with a three-volt motor (requires two AA batteries), and over 640 parts to make a truly dynamic dinosaur model.
Another exciting Erector Set that falls in line with the more classic-minded Erector collectors is the Space Center set. This set allows you to construct a rocket ship complete with launching apparatus and a tower. The Space Center is an ideal gift for those who collect classic Erector Sets or those who are interested in space exploration. It goes without saying, of course, that the Space Center also makes an excellent learning tool for children.
For the budding architects on your list, there is also the Erector Empire State Building set. This beautiful set allows you to build an almost two-foot-tall replica of the Empire State Building. The Empire State Building set comes with 961 parts and it includes all necessary tools and instructions. Whether you know them as Meccano sets or Erector Sets, the bottom line is that these fun "toys" provide hours of imaginative and educational play.
