3-2-1 Launch
Posted 4/30/2009 by Morgan

Rating:

Setting: Homeschool

Generally nice item which does a great job illustrating the power of magnetism. The boys really liked seeing it launch and actually helped in construction. Be careful not to overtighten the screws or you can crack the wood (yes we did but fixed with some glue). Take care assembling the paper launch vehicle if you want it to look nice.
Only real draw back that we saw is that the kit is a little pricey, but since there aren't really any other kits that do this same type thing well I guess they charge what they can.

I saw a clip of the magnetic accelerator on a science website. When I realized it could be had as a kit I really wanted to try it. When it arrived I found it quite simple to put together and reasonably well constructed for its price. The directions are simple and streight forward. The little cardboard shuttle is pretty simple to assemble and works as advertised. Would make a good science project for school . I only gave it a four star because it appeqred to be less powerful than the one I origionaly saw on the clipl It appeared to be a little smaller, that may be the problem. I like it and the grandkids like it.

Not Just Magnetic
Posted 1/25/2010 by Harold Geller

Rating:

This product requires assembly. The instructions could have been clearer for assembly. The title of the product "Magnetic Accelerator" is a little misleading. While it utilizes magnets, it also relies on the transfer of mechanical linear momentum. The proper functioning of the device relies on very precise assembly. It is an amusing device, but it should come with a good explanation of the laws of physics being demonstrated so that teachers could better use this appropriately.

I had hoped that the ball bearing would be faster but it is a good product nonetheless.

Works Well, Needs Documentation

It works very well, but there is nothing included with the accelerator to explain what it is doing. Also, the main track should be made of a less splintery wood, and the separator should be thicker or stronger.

It is an overall good product, but I was expecting it to be longer so that it could of gone faster.

Awsome Science Fair Kit

My step-son wanted a science fair experiment that wasn't like everyone else's and the Magnetic Accelerator sure did the job. It was easy for him to assemble and demonstrate with.
