My daughter was very excited about this gift. As soon as she opened it she was ready to start making it. We laid out the squares and decided on the pattern she wanted to make. We then began to try and knot the frayed edges together. The problem we had was the length of the pieces was hardly long enough to tie. My daughter who is 9 could not do it, I even had difficulty trying to tie a knot. She quickly became really frustrated with the project. The idea is great. I am sure she may enjoy adding the extra decorations once the knotting is done.

Harder than it looks and not as pretty

Quality: The material is very flimsy. Some squares have different material than others, making the knots easier/harder on each square. Practicality: Not for a 6 year old for sure, and the 60 year old grandmother got pretty tired of it, too. I don't know many kids under 20 who would sit for making all those knots. We were making it for the other grandmom in a nursing home. I am sure she will love it, (coming from her 6 year old granddaughter who did three knots and got bored - or overwhelmed-- with it) but the quality just isn't there. It is a fabulous idea, just not well executed. Suggestions: Upgrade the material and make the squares a bit larger. Once the knots are made the squares are small and hard to handle.
