Very sturdy. My three year old has played with it outside in the dirt and leaves and dropped it several times. It is holding up well.

The toy is very realistic, sturdy, and functional. Since the ground is frozen he hasn't played with it outside. My son is four, he plays with it constantly and has no problems using it.
