Information about What Happens Next? Picture Sequencing

This is a wonderful educational toy, especially for four to five year old children. My granddaughter loves putting the puzzles together in anticipation of seeing what will happen next and delights in knowing that she completed the puzzles by herself and watched the "stories" unfold.

My not wite 3 year old has in-home speech therapy twice a week and his therapist has used the cards with him a couple of times already. He enjoys putting the pieces together and the pictures are terrific prompts for speech. He even asks to play with them when it isn't time for speech.

My rating of What Happens Next? Picture Sequencing

I am a speech-language pathologist, working with students with special needs. I have used it with my 3 year old daughter who enjoyed the pictures and putting together the puzzles. I liked that the character in each was different and engaging, good for eliciting language. I thought that the pictures were phenomenal for working with students on inferencing (what's going on in the picture? when is picture taking place? how do you know? what will happen next?). I didn't really see it working that well as a sequencing activity, as the pictures don't really lend themselves to analyzing the pictures and deciding which picture has to come before the other. Again, looks great for inferencing. I would love to see a similar game with actual sequences such as getting dressed, pouring breakfast, etc, where students have to think about what they would do first, second, etc.
