My kids and grankids have made shrinky dinks for years. It's a great grandkid craft project for a weekend overnight. The smaller size is excellent as there is not as much waste. Each child likes their own sheet to work with and they tend to want to draw in the very middle of each sheet of plastic. The granddaughters are currently making jewlery charms.

creative -- keeps the 6 year old awestruck ("How do they get little without burning?") -- cute -- they "made them" themselves
