Underwhelmed

I was picturing something smaller. Instead the pieces are rather large (the eyes are the size of a superball, the large jaw piece is the size of my fist) giving the set more a preschooler feel. My 5 year old was underwhelmed, despite loving dinosaurs and anything that glows in the dark. My other disappointment was pieces don't fit firmly into each other enough to hold up large weights. (The head, as shown in the picture, works. But if you try to put it on a neck, the weight of the head will cause it to slip down and you end up with an upside down head). It is appropriate for preschoolers, a tighter fit would mean harder to put together. I thought it would be more like model building appropriate to a school aged child. This seems like it would be a fun toy for a younger child.

This was a birthday gift for our 3-year-old. He's been into dragons, dinosaurs, and monsters, so this was perfect.

I expected smaller pieces and more of them. My 8 year old has built a few creatures and they do glow in the dark which he said is the coolest part. That is a unique feature along with the jointed pieces that allow for movement. The pieces seem like they are made to last, time will tell.
