We used this paint under chalkboard paint and it works great. My daughter loves it. And it was very easy to apply.

The paint works well, but you'll need 3 to 4 coats if you plan to use it like I did. I use it on my son's wall to display his art work. It would work with just the 2 coats if you were hanging a smooth 8 x 11 inch paper. His pieces are often heavier or more textured and the paint is not strong enough to capture the magnet without the additional coats. The paint is easy to apply with no strong smell. We love how the wall turned out.

Great for Kids' Rooms!

My 2 year old is crazy about his magnet wall. We painted it on the lower half of one wall in his room, and covered it with latex paint. Pros: It really works! Flat magnets stick very well. Cons: My son's room has highly textured walls (old plaster), so we needed to do extra coats to make it more powerful. Plastic alphabet magnets don't stick very well. It took a lot of stirring before the paint was ready to use, and the paint is very heavy. It is challenging to get even coats.

The paint is very hard to apply. It needed to be stirred a lot. It goes on very gritty and needs multiple coats to get even coverage. Also, it goes on black, so if you're painting a light color over it you'll have to do many layers of that too. It does work, but only with flat (or lighter) magnets. (Some alphabet letter magnets don't stick.)
