The Best Game
Posted 1/16/2008 by Susan Thompson-Shaw

Rating:

This is one of the best games I've ever played. It was easy to learn. A great game for four friends. We all liked that it could be played quickly. Some strategy was involved, but that ellicited lots of laughter, as well. The shapes were great to look at and handle. The evolving designs were a wonderful visual display. Two of us also played it, using two colors each. That was a challenge, but it can be done. I highly recommend this game.

Blokus Trigon - great twist on a great game
Posted 8/14/2008 by Mo B.

Rating:

My family enjoyed the original Blokus game a bunch, so we thought we'd try out Trigon for a change of pace. This is a great spin-off of the original. It's just as simple to learn (our 5 year old plays it easily), but offers a little more challenge and variety in terms of piece placement and space management. Definitely recommended to help 5 year-olds and older learn spatial relationships and identify patterns. And better than that, it's a lot of fun to play.

The game is okay. We already have the original Blokus which seems to be the best. This one only differs in the shapes being triangular. It's pretty much a duplicate of the original Blokus. The game board seems to be slightly harder to use because the pieces slip out of their position easily when putting in new ones. This messes up the strategy - not knowing where things were originally. It's okay for us, because only 4 people can play at once. Having another is good for parties, so more people can play.

An interesting twist on original "square" Blokus...
Posted 7/15/2008 by J. English

Rating:

Blokus Trigon is an interesting twist on the original "square" Blokus. If you are already familiar with the original Blokus, you know that one color can pass through another color's pieces where their corners touch. In Blokus Trigon, there is enough room for two colors (three colors total) to pass through a single intersection space.
The same concepts apply as in original Blokus, but the games tend to be more densely packed.
I think it's more of an "Advanced" Blokus.
My one suggestion would be that the pieces stay in place a little better, like they do in the "square" version.

Great game, easy to learn, depending on who is playing it can be easy or difficult. I am using it in my classroom at the high school level to motivate. Every type of student I have, Pre-Algebra to Pre-Calculus, A student or D student, likes to play. Hard to find a game like this!!! Thanks for making my teaching dollars go further.

6 Year Old Boys Need This!

Rating:

My 6 year old son and I have had such a great bonding experience with this game. We both get ready quickly in the morning so we can play. The tournament keeps going after school. We are both challenged and interested. I can see the strategical skills improving. It helps him with other skills-like his love of wrestling. He thinks ahead and plans his moves!

This is one of the most addictive games I've ever played. It's tetris meets chess. A lot of fun for those people who enjoy trying to one up the next person.

THE BEST FAMILY GAME EVER. We have three children, 7, 11 and 14. This is the very first game we've ever had that, not only do all the kids love to play, but MY HUSBAND DOES! It's so incredibly simple. But a great mental challenge at the same time--if you want it to be. I got online to buy the trigon and travel version as well. The original and trigon version are more fun if you play with 3 or 4 players. The travel version is great when you have just 2. And the pieces are substantial enough in size that it's not annoying. We find the TRIGON version the most fun. But they're all great.

We really enjoy it. My family first enjoyed the original Blokus so much that once we took it to a family gathering. Shortly after, the other two families "had" to get their own. Now I'm sure they'll all want this one, too.

Our family loves the blokus board game. We purchased both the travel size for two players and the Triangle game for four players. It is a game that young children (9 years old) and teenagers enjoy playing together without either age group getting frustrated.

This is great game for 2 or more players. There were several of us of varied ages who played. When my niece left to go back home, I decided my husband and I needed our own game.
It is competitive yet no one person dominated the play.

A great game for a wide range of ages. My 8 year old niece likes playing it as much as the adults. Great for learning general problem solving and spatial problems. Also teaches strategy and how to plan ahead. Easy to learn, easy to play, not so easy to master.

Very Entertaining Strategy Game. A worthy successor to the original "Blokus." Price is a little high, a more reasonable price would earn it a fifth star. It would be a benefit if the manufacturer would include a reusable storage bag for the playing pieces.

A Little Like Chess
Posted 8/29/2007 by David

Rating:

Blokus Trigon is an interesting game that takes a bit more concentration than the original Blokus. Diamonds are just harder to visualize in your mind than squares. This makes for an interesting game. I say it is a bit like chess is that it can be as hard or as easy as you make it. Your opponent makes or breaks it. If you can get people that will take time to think about future moves this can prove a rather difficult game. If you just throw the pieces on the board without consideration it can make the game a lot less fun.

A really great game! I don't think my five years old daughter could play it yet, but my husband and I really enjoy it! All the lucky friends we played with ordered the game for themselves. It's easy to understand the rules (1 minute or 2) and you're good to play for a half hour!

Harder Than Original Blokus
Posted 2/14/2007 by S Schwartz

Rating:

Our family bonded over the original Blokus, so it was natural to order this version. My 7 year old and 5 year old like this version, but find it more difficult than the original. I love the challenge of thinking in terms of triangles, instead of squares. I'm constantly amazed at the higher level of thinking that this game invokes in my children. I highly recommend this game to everyone.

Nothing But Family Fun!

Our 30 year old son introduced us to the Blokus games. After the first evening of having a great time playing with 3 of our married kids and their spouses, I decided to order the Blokus Trigon. That has been just as big of a hit, so for Valentines we are giving all of them the Blokus Games to play with their friends as well as family. We are sending one to our son and his family in Colorado as well. Thanks for the great games and fun times with the families.

Intriguing and Fun
Posted 1/29/2007 by Daniel L. Manske

We had spent an evening with relatives playing the original Blokus on the square board with square tiles, and since we had so much fun I went online to order one for myself. Then I noticed the Trigon version of the game and decided to try it since it seemed you could play with 2 to 6 people since there were six sides. Well, there are only 4 colors of tile, so I guess if you want to play with six people, some will have to double up. It takes some time to figure out strategies because this game seems to use a different part of the brain than many other games. I actually used all of my pieces on about the 3rd round we played. I might suggest that the board be made bigger, with the ridges a bit higher so the pieces stay more secure on the board and then maybe you could add two more colors of tile and up to six could play.

When our family (adults, a teen, a pre-teen and a 6 yr old) sat down to play, we were surprised that the directions took about 5 seconds to read through. It was one of those games though, where the strategy needed become clear as you play. It was quickly declared "the best game ever" and we played daily for a month. That's when we saw Trigon and all immediately agreed we had to try it. It didn't disapoint anyone. This is truly a game for all ages!

The whole Blokus series is great. I bought all three for my family. I love them the most because I like the spatial aspect. I don't have much trouble finding anyone to play. The games are a nice length of 20 minutes or so. We have made a habit of an after-dinner Blokus game. I have played the game with all ages from 5-80 and everyone enjoys it. Blokus is easy to learn and great to play.
