Outstanding value!

My granddaughter received the "I Never Forget a Face" matching game for her first birthday. Her mother put it away for a few months and then brought it out one day. It was an instant hit! She does not yet (at age 20 months) have the ability to 'play the game,' but she spends chunks of time every day laying the tiles out, sometimes putting pairs together. She is fascinated by the exquisite, brightly colored children of the world and chats to and about them. I have since purchased this fine toy for other little ones and have also bought the companion lacing cards.

Son loves this game
Posted 8/26/2008

Rating:

My son received this game as a Christmas gift. He was 3 at the time. I was unsure if he would understand the memory game concept, but he has played w/ the game in different ways. Early on, he just liked looking at the faces of the different kids and matching them. Now that he is almost 4, he enjoys mixing them up, finding matches, talking about the different outfits and hats, etc. He focuses on certain objects/features with each child pictured on the card. We bought the game as a birthday gift for two other children at his preschool.

What a fun, educational, multicultural game!
Posted 7/15/2008 by Ruby Miller

The "I Never Forget a Face Matching Game" is a wonderful addition to our preschool classrooms. While strengthening their matching skills, the game offers the children the opportunity to learn about taking turns, waiting, and encouraging their friends. The diversity of the faces allows children to see the wonderful variety among humans, and can be used to teach Geography, too. I love this game!

Great game to stimulate memory skills
Posted 7/2/2008 by Jane Carden

Rating:

First of all, this game stimulates a child's memory skills, which is fantastic. The pictures of children on each card are in bright vivid colors, which children are attracted to. The different nationalities of the children stimulates a child's curiosity and inspires a child to ask questions. The game cards are made of sturdy high-quality material with a shiny finish, which feels good in a child's hand. The pieces are a perfect size to hold in a child's hand.

Fun & Educational game for young kids

I love this game. My child first played it at a friend's house and I now purchase it for every birthday party we go to for 3-4-5 yr olds. Not only is it a fun memory game, but it teaches them about different nationalities around the world. The child turns over one card with a picture of a child from one country and must find the matching card. The kids playing relate to the different children in the pictures and we also talk about what country they are from. The cards are made out of a sturdy board material not flimsy paper like other matching games. It is one of the best children's games out there. Wish more places had it in their stores, rather than online.

GREAT PRODUCT

THIS IS A GREAT, CULTURALLY DIVERSE, MATCHING GAME. MY SON WAS PROBABLY MORE INTERESTED IN KNOWING WHERE THE CHILDREN WERE FROM THAN ACTUALLY PLAYING THE GAME THE WAY IT WAS MEANT TO BE PLAYED...WHICH WAS ACTUALLY ALRIGHT WITH ME. IF YOU LIKE PLAYING GAMES WITH YOUR KID AND WANT TO FOSTER CULTURAL AWARENESS, THIS IS THE GAME FOR YOU.

Beautifully made. Pleasure to handle. Got iy for a granddaughter who is 2.5. She likes to lay them out and make arrangements. Soon we'll be doing face-up matching. Much later: the memory match with the tiles face down. 'The quality of the pieces means it going to last for a long time.

This was for my Grandson & we were trying to find toys that he could interact with his new baby/sister or brother coming soon. We will find out if we can accomplish this when baby gets here & then the different facial expressions will begin.

I Never Forget A Face

I've used this product before with 3-5 year olds. The pictures are lifelike enough that each child can recognize "someone who looks like me." I divide it into two sets. I only use half at a time. I can leave it out, for the children to invent their own games. I can teach them how to play the traditional "Memory" game. I want to try using it for a variation of Kim's Game. I put out one of each picture, remove one when the children are not looking, and see whether they can remember which one is missing.

Matching Game
Posted 12/11/2007 by Daniele Pollin

Rating:

I love the wide representation of children from different countries, as I am trying to teach my son to think globally and respect other cultures. It is simple enough to keep the game interesting for a 4 year old, but also teaches him about different forms of dress and skin color. It is a wonderful toy and I highly recommend it for preschoolers.

This is a wonderful game of matching faces. It is fun for the my 5 year old to see the different faces of people. We also make up stories of what their lives might be like and give them names. She has other memory matching games but this one is so different.

This is a great activity for kids, as well as kids and adults. I would suggest the box include the advice that with younger children to start out with 6 pairs, then move to 12 pair as they understand the game. Then to 24 pair as they become more proficient.

I was delighted and surprised that the 3 year old girl I had purchased this game for was able tdo maintain her interest and patience to play until the last match was made! The game lends itself to adaptation of play according to a child's age and development. It is also a wonderful way to learn about and accept differences. The sturdy game tiles promise us many happy hours of play.

My 3 year old daughter loves the traditional memory but I wanted something new for her. She loves these faces. When we find a match, we find the face on the back of the box and we find the country on her world map. It's wonderfully broadening. And the cards themselves are nice and thick with very high quality pictures of the children.

A wonderful toy which my daughter loves to play with. It helps her concentrate, sharpens her memory, and reinforces names and dresses of different countries. The countries chosen exhibit a good distribution, and the pictures are all very cute and friendly. The squares too are well-sized for a five year old's hands.

Beautiful Illustrations!

My 4 year old daughter LOVES to look at the different faces, and the illustrations are beautiful and detailed. We haven't broached the step of identifying the countries of origin to each face, but it is nice that this is included on the back of the box. She mostly enjoys matching them up and just looking at them.

I'm a preschool teacher, and purchased this game for my classroom. It is an excellent way to get a small group of children noticing and commenting on sameness and difference. The children often choose the faces that resemble someone they know, and it's interesting to hear them discuss why they think a face resembles that person. A great tool for discussing issues of diversity, even at a young age!

The pictures are really great. It brings back memories of the "old" versions of "Memory" that my sister and I played as kids. "I Never Forget a Face" adds so much more to the original. My niece loves it.

We love this updated and globally-conscious version of memory, especially since we are a multi-racial family! Oftentimes products are considered multi-cultural even when 95% of the characters are caucasian-looking. Not so with this. Our children really study each face, noting similarities and differences. What a subtle, beautiful way to add diversity and build memory skills. As an educator and parent, I love when a game is multifunctional! Great gift idea. I told a friend about it recently, only to find out she has it and loves it too!

Rating:

I teach first grade. I introduced the game to my students as a matching game. I was concerned the game may be more challenging than other matching games as the attributes of the faces are more difficult to distinguish. It does require a higher level of visual cognition. I like the game for that reason. I observe the higher level first graders playing it. I am hopeful that all of my students will be developmentally playing the game by the end of the year.
