The age says 3, but my son just turned 5. He is not sure how to imitate the pictures the box shows and does not have the ability to design something himself. That said, my 8 and 9 year old have a blast with it. They have made a mask, hat and car. I think that the age of the toy is incorrect. The construction of the materials is excellent. There are no sharp edges to the plastic. It is very durable.
