Cathedral is a fabulous and rather fast-playing game
that is part puzzle and part Risk if you've ever played
Risk. There are no die rolls; rather, the players take
turns placing pieces all of which have unique shapes
that can be strategically placed to thwart your
opponent. The goal is to capture and secure as much
"territory" as you can while blocking and even capturing
your opponent's pieces if you can isolate them. I can
play this forhours and no two sessions are ever alike.
The board is made up of squares kind of like a battleship
board but without labels. The pieces themselves are
high-quality3D wood buildings that, when playing, look like
a small town as it appears from the air a few miles away.
That isn't surprising since the game was created by a pilot with
thougts of how beautiful a town looked from the air.
When not playing the game, having the pieces on the
board and set on furniture it appears to be a work of
art and always elicits interest from all who see it.
Cathedral can be played by kindergarteners or retirees.
My whole family loves this game and we recently bought
another to give as a gift. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Amazing strategy game!
Posted 7/15/2009 by John Gould

Rating:

This game is vaguely similar to Blokus, but much more elegant, and, I think, more difficult to master. Like Blokus, each player tries to cordon off as much area as possible while playing as many pieces as possible. Both my 7-year-old and my 11-year-old enjoy playing the game (as do I)
The quality of construction is great; all wood, no splinters or sharp edges.
Overall, this is a wonderful strategy game, with no luck involved.

Classic Cathedral

Its a game that is fast to teach but endlessly entertaining. Work as a visible prop on the Renaissance stage as well. Love it. This is my third set.

Cathedral Classic

Rating:

Cathedral Classic is an interesting and easy to learn game that I remember from my childhood. Cathedral is as complicated as chess, but plays as quickly as checkers.

Fun Game
Posted 5/28/2007 by Guy Padgett

Rating:

Cathedral is a great game for 2 people. The rules are simple to learn in a single session, yet the game allows for an endless variety of play. Games tend to move fast, so you can play several in a sitting. One complaint; when the game arrived, one of the pieces had broken apart. However, this was easily solved with wood glue.
