The Illuminator attaches to the Gel Ant Farm creating a light effect on the gel and the tunnels they dig. My son loves this. It doubles as a very cool night light as well. Cool toy.

A great addition to a great product

The Illuminator is a wonderful addition. It really enhances the visibility of the ants in the gel, and makes a handy nightlight. I should've bought the two together and saved a little money, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the AntWorks habitat and the Illuminator to anyone else I know.

I accidentally thought this was the Antworks ant farm. I was disappointed to see that it was only the light. As far as lights go, this is pretty cool. I actually did order the ant farm from here, and when it's all hooked together it looks nice.

My whole family loves the ant farm! It is facinating to watch the harvestor ants tunnel through the gel and make thier new home. We are all glued to their progress. It is better than any TV program or video game.

We have had Antworks for a while- in fact this was our second batch of ants. I had wanted the illuminator before, so I thought it would be fun to get this time. The kids love to watch the ants without any special lighting, but now the Antworks doubles as a night-light. My son loves it (we keep it in his bedroom) and it adds even more fun to watch the ants in the dark. My girls adore the Antworks and drag all visitors up to my son's room to see it. They are so thrilled with their 23 pets!

I love this product. I am a preschool teacher and one of the teachers at our school has one of these. I bought mine as a gift for my son and his friend. It is quite an amazing thing to watch.

The antfarm was exactly what we were looking for. It provided a fabulous nightlight as well as igniting a desire in our son for antlife.

Very worth getting. It enhances the ant habitat very much. Just like the picture in the catalog! I will say that back lighting is just as effective, like if the habitat sat in front of a lamp or a window, but if your arrangement is not backlit, this illuminator is very worth doing. (The color blue is quite beautiful in itself, adding to the "art" characteristic of this style of habitat.)

My son received this as a gift for the holidays. His friend loved it, so I bought it for the friend's birthday. It's a great gift - even I enjoy watching the ants to find out what they'll do next.

In my opinion, Antworks is incomplete without the Illuminator. The Illuminator turns Antworks into a nightlight and makes the gel glow a cool neon blue.

We purchased this for a gift, but it looked way to cool to wrap without having a closer look. I loved the little booklet inside that tells about the different ants. I know my nephew will stare at night into this and watch a world moving.

This is one of the coolest items ever!!! It allows you to see your ants clearly day or night, Plus it seems as if the ants are digging toward the lights. It is a lot of fun and is very helpful. Highly recommended!!!
