A little touchy, but works as advertised

I own a different brand of a levitating globe, but I wanted something that could levitate other objects as well. Compared to my other levitating globe, I found this one to be quite difficult to position the object and acheive "lock". Even after the object is levitating on its own, the processor can continue to hunt for the optimum position, and drop the object. However, once lock is finally acheived, the object seems stable enough. I purchased the space shuttle to levitate, and it does look very cool rotating around in mid air. Note that the manufacturer recommends to not leave your levitating object unattended. I can only assume its because the object can either drop or get attracted to the top of the unit if the unit is jostled (or if it hasn't really acheived lock yet). The manufacturer warns you about leaving the object stuck to the top magnet for any extended period of time. Also note that the unit must be very level for the rotation function to work properly, and must be on a stable surface that won't get jostled.

Eye-Catching

Worth the money. Instructions are very brief. Achieving flotation for the first time was a bit frustrating but patience won out. Don't wear a watch when attempting flotation. Extremely effective interest generator in the classroom.

Frame and Silver Base
Posted 11/4/2007 by Whitley Harbison

Rating:

I bought the frame separately to suspend, instead of using the globe and had a little trouble getting it to hold in the magnetic field. I assumed this was a weight issue. I took out the two panes of glass and it worked perfectly. It's a great and unique gift and I'm glad I purchased it!

Information about Silver Base with Blue Globe
Posted 10/7/2007 by Bill Bell

Rating:

Excellent. I plan to order some of the other items for display in the floating ideas base. My wife said that the only thing that would help this product would be a light that illuminates the item being floated.

How Unique Is This?!
Posted 7/31/2007 by Karen Coggins

This rotating globe is a total eye catcher & conversation maker. At first glance my co-workers thought is was hanging by threads but when I pull a David Copperfield by waving my hand above & below the rotating earth everyone is surprised and their curiosity is peaked. It isn't easy to balance the globe between these 2 magnets so you must have patience with it, but it's well worth your efforts! You can buy a globe that just hangs in mid-air, but what fun is that? We all know the earth spins... now that's entertainment!

Very cool! This is definitely a fun item and it really works as described, unlike the sea monkeys I bought as a child!

Review for Silver Base with Blue Globe

The globe was just as I reviewed online and was easy to set-up. It has surely been the talk around the water cooler. I even had to place a do not touch sticker on it!

Product review of Silver Base with Blue Globe
Posted 4/17/2007 by Fernando Cisneros

Rating:

The Blue Globe levitates, but doesn't rotate as it is supposed to. The product looks beautiful and impresses people. However, it is fragile and dents easily if it falls. When you're trying to position it to levitate or if you hold it thightly, it also dents.

Good Toy

The blue globe is an interesting and really good toy/room accessory. There are only 2 weak points in this product. First, it is not easy to float the object. We will have to practice for a while. (Before buying this blue globe, I had a small floating globe. My old globe is so easy to float compared to this one.) Second, the globe itself is not a really quality globe. The one, I received, has pop-up plastic on the top. Also there is an air bubble under the cover plastic on the globe.

A rating of Silver Base with Blue Globe
Posted 2/8/2007 by Ronald Wolf

Rating:

I purchased 2 blue globes with silver base as gifts. One for my son who is in car sales. He has "the most popular desk." It attracts a lot of attention. The other I purchased for my daughter who is an elementary teacher. "Very cool." I had it on my desk before giving it to my daughter and had dozens of people stopping to see it! Great idea-works great. I have many ideas that would be great for future floating objects!

Love the product. It is supposed to spin the globe, and it only turns slightly from one direction to the other, but does not spin.

I thought the base was a globe, then the floating plane went around it. So, I was a little disappointed. However, my husband is enjoying his gift very much.

It's cool, but not that great
Posted 1/10/2006 by Justin

Rating:

It's pretty interesting once you get this thing to float. It's not as easy as the directions state to get the objects to float. Plus, if the electricity goes out the object will fall. But once it is floating it's pretty neat to see it go.

Nifty little product

The floating globe, in my oppinion, was a nice buy, not great, just nice. It goes great with home decor or amazing coworkers at the office and stuff like that (I myself bought it for my new room), not so much for geographical references. Only downside I think was the price...maybe if it came with one of those accessory models, then okay, but otherwise, a little pricy.
