The Levitating Globe is terrific. It is exactly as described and exactly what I wanted. It has generated much discussion in my office at work.

Excellent Quality And Hours Of Fun
Posted 10/2/2007 by Jeff McCamley

Rating:

This globe is hours of fun. Everyone that visits my home office gravitates to it, intrigued by its floating appeal. Unlike some other globes we've seen, it also has quite a bit of detail geographically and includes most of the Atlantic and Pacific island chains. It has a classic retro feel with a modern twist, which made it the perfect addition to our modern "Bombay-style" office. If you want it to spin, you can lightly blow across the side of it to get it to rotate just like a regular globe. We did this for our neighbors, and they were all looking for the axle, wondering how we did the trick.

This product is exactly as described. It evokes curiosity from all who see it - however, is relatively easy to knock off balance & the whole "world" comes crashing down.

I'm a 48 year old single dad and occasionally I buy myself a toy to amuse myself. I love this globe, and I've received many compliments on its design and mystique.

Looks nice but....

It's a little noisy. It makes a constant fairly audible humming sound. Also, the center-of-gravity on my globe must be a little off because when it is spinning slowly it rocks back and forth until it comes to stop facing the same way each time.

The device is very interesting. People in the office like to look at it. I put a small fan 1 foot from it to make the globe turn.

Pretty Slick!

It's a pretty cool to see the globe floating in midair...especially when you rotate it slowly. Beware, however, rotation, even when very slow, tends to destabilize levitation. The only other minor criticism I have is that the device makes a noticable whirring noise which can be heard in a quiet area. Other than that, I think this product is great!

The levitating globe is a very nice addition to any office. It is also a great discussion starter. It takes a little practice to get the hang of levitating the globe, but once you figure it out it's pretty simple. I am very happy with this product.

Stellanova Titan Downunder

The Stellanova Titan is a great addition to our home and is beautifully designed. The globe though relatively small is exquisitely detailed. I had little trouble achieving the "levitation" of the globe, and I can just sit and look at it for hours! A slight problem as an Australian customer, was that the Plug pack power supply was for 110V 60Hz only and our mains supply is 240V 50Hz. This was not mentioned anywhere on the product information at the time of purchase and meant purchasing an additional power supply to allow me to get the system working. I was impressed that my feedback on the power supply was promptly acted on and the website updated accordingly. Great work!

Good Purchase

Nice, sylish look. The globe levitated on our second try and was pretty neat. I wish it were a little bigger, but it does say clearly "8 inch globe" and you can always take it out to examine more closely. There is a faint humming noise detectable in a quiet room, but nothing that would disturb most individuals. I gave as a gift to an adult and wish the packaging was a little more elegant for my purpose, but minor detail.

Excellent product and service!

Contrary to other reviews for this globe, we did not feel that getting it to levitate was difficult at all. I bought this as a gift for my husband and it took less than a minute to levitate. It is a fascinating product and we are enjoying it immensely.

Review for Titan 8 inch Levitating Globe - Antique

I purchased this globe as a gift for my son. The shipping was very fast and it arrived in perfect condition. He is the manager of a large Social Security office and he likes it so much, that he is taking it in for his desk at work. He said it is just "too cool" to leave at home. He did say that getting the globe to levitate is a little tricky at first, but once you do it a few times, it's no problem. I would buy from this merchant again in a minute.

I am sorry, but we were looking forward to this and it was very disappointing. None of us could get the thing to float. We tried for 45 minutes. It would either fall to the bottom magnet or fly to the top one.

This is a great product and well worth the money (i'd seen smaller versions in local stores for about the same price as this much larger product).

I purchased this as a desktop globe for my eight-year-old, but discovered that getting it to levitate was beyond his abilities. However, it's such a handsome globe that I quickly adopted it for my own desk. In the few weeks that I've owned it, I've had several opportunities to snatch the globe out of its magnetic holder and use it to explain geopolitics, plate tectonics, etc. If not for the tricky levitation business, I'd give it a perfect score for utility, size, and attractiveness.

A Facinating Christmas Gift !!

Very fun and very educational. My three children had a great time playing and learning the world geographics. Took us a while to "levitate" the globe... But no big deal, now that even my 5-year old can easily handle it. It couldn't have been a better time to have this globe and to learn about our world as the terrible tsunami disaster hit the south east Asia. I will recommend this magnetically levitated globe to every family!

we have been unable to use the globe so far, as I had forgotten about needing to use an adaptor plug to use US plugs in sockets in NZ so had not bought one to go with it. Also the transformer is of a different voltage to that commonly used in NZ so we are yet to see if it will work. Other than that the shipping was quick and the globe looks good.
