An instruction manual that showed how the product could be used for doing basic math functions would have helped I believe. If the product could be used for higher functions an explanation of how that is done would have been good.

The nature of this product is to provide fun math & logic puzzles to stretch your thinking. Please note that Aba-Conundrums is not intended to teach how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide on the abacus. Although it can certainly be used for that purpose by incorporating abacus information readily available in many books and on the internet. We promise to keep your trust in offering products that are especially unique. If any Fat Brain Toy is different than expected, we will slide right in to help. Please visit the Returns & Exchanges center for details.

I like this product. It provides my child with a math challenge she does not get in school. She will pick it up and do 1 or 2 puzzles every so often and then come back in a day or so. I think it will be used for next few years as her abilities grow.

Grandson enjoyed this as much, or more, than his Legos. He is 10 years old and in advanced placement classes. This fit the bill for his analytical skills and problem solving tendencies. He loves challenge and this presented one. Interestingly, it opened up a whole new range of activities he could create. At dinner, without the game, he used the concept to create a "problem" for his Dad to solve. His Dad then created one for him.

Purchased to assist a 9 year old in understanding math. The relationship between understanding math and using this device was obscure for us. The item was returned.
