I bought it for a 4 year old, the 6 year old plays with it just as much. I bought a second set.

A rating of Arx

Magnets are not strong enough. Returned product and bought magformers instead- those are a hit!
 |
 |
Both Arx and Magformers are wonderful products. Arx is purposefully designed with lower power magnets rolling within inner channels. Thinking critically and working carefully is a prerequisite to creating clever configurations. Magformers are an "any way works" magnetic building toy requiring less experimentation and problem solving for success.

The magnetic power in these blocks is practically nil. I couldn't even get them to stay together.

Kids do not like it

This was a bad choice. I purchased Arx because my kids love to explore and solve challenging puzzles and toys and they love building blocks. For some reason they do not like this toy. After I played with them for a couple of hours I have to with my kids. They do not like it.

Not too impressed. I didn't feel it did what it said it would, the magnets had a hard time sticking together. At 23 years of age I was frustrated because I couldn't get it to do what I wanted... how would a 5 year old feel? So I returned it to Fat Brain. Very good about returns... they are everything they claim to be.

Great colors, great shapes. The fact that the pieces were magnetic was a BIG plus and got the adults interested in playing with the Arx, as well.

The colors and shapes attracted the attention of our nephew as soon as he opened the box. The fact that the pieces are magnetic gave the toy additional interest for both the children AND adults at our Christmas gathering.

From the website I thought these would be really cool. The magnets are only moderately strong. The only thing you can do is make towers, arrange them flat on the floor, or put them side by side. I thought that they would hang precariously like the desk magnet toys. They don't. I passed over a couple other magnet toys because this one was attractive. It is very limited.

It is a good toy, and the kids like it. However, you almost need 2 boxes to really make it worth it.

My preschool students love playing with arx. They enjoy any toy that involves magnets and the magnets in arx help them stay together when you're buildling and allow you to stretch the boundaries of what's possible and defy gravity with your creations!

I was very surprised my grandsons age 4 and 6 were not interested in the ARX building magnets, or whatever you call them. They played with them for perhaps 10 minutes when they first arrived for the 4-day weekend and then never went back to them. From the review on your site, I expected the boys to really get into them thus making the cost well-worth it. Unfortunately, I think they were overrated.
