My grandkids ages 4-10 loved playing this with me. The competition against each other & the timer made it even more fun. I was very impressed with the quality of the product. The blocks & cards are very sturdy/well made & bright. This game really will help improve fine motor skills, visual recognition, & spatial acuity. AND It's a great game for grandparents...because as we age, we need things like this that will challenge our brains too!

Even though I misread the age appropriate comment, the three year old is playing with the blocks and learning the letters of the alphabet. She and her sisters are enjoying the different applications and using their imaginations.

I bought this for my grandchildren to play with when they come to my house. (There are 7 of them between 9 months and 5 years old and all live in town and generally visit once or more per week.) Two of them (a 4 1/2 and a 5 y.o) tried it out last week and played with these blocks for over an hour. They didn't quite get the idea of beating the timer (though they set it carefully before beginning with a card), but enjoyed just matching and recreating the pictures on the cards. It was interesting to see how their brains worked. The 5 y.o. worked very methodically through the building blocks on the card one at a time, finding and placing each block picture and then moving to the next one. The 4 y.o. was able to look at the big picture and was searching for several of the pictures at one time among the blocks, collected the needed block pictures and then assembled them in the right order. We talked about patterns, what categories of pictures could be found on each block, strategies for finding the pictures quickly, etc. For these boys, having an interested and encouraging adult with them while playing with these was a good thing. I don't know that they would choose to play alone with these blocks at this point, but we will see in the future. I would say this is a fun way to encourage improved understanding of spacial awareness, serial memory, pattern recognition. As they get better at this, I could see them using it in a competitive manner, making up games with it, and playing together using this toy. All my grandkids seem to be outdoor, big movement type kids and spend a lot of time running, swimming, and playing so I was a little surprised at how well this kept their attention. I like that there are several ways that it can be used and two levels of play--one for readers and one for non-readers.
