Love the team play (allows me to play solitaire when the grandchildren are not available) and the randomness of the situation for constant surprises and infinite plots. The suspense and excitement are built just right and the island cards are beautifully presented. The rules are a little complicated, but that is really necessary to add the surprise moves; the instruction manual is well done to lead you through the trickier rules.

Outstanding!

Forbidden Island deserves every award it has received. The artwork is beautiful and it plays like a dream. Play is quick and the mechanics are very simple, but it's not easy to win. And because the board itself, the players' special abilities, and both the treasure deck and the flood deck are randomly selected or arranged, every single game plays differently - every game is a completely new challenge! What I love the most is that even though players work cooperatively and win or lose together, it doesn't feel different from a typical competitive game with only one winner. And because the goal is shared, it is absolutely perfect for a solo player. Another great feature is that the rules provide for variability in difficulty and accommodating stellar players who want more. (And the price is a steal! but shh... don't tell the Gamewright folks!)
