Romantic blocks set

I love these blocks - a perfect addition to the wooden sets my children have collected over the years.
Wonderful Waldorf friendly and great for the imagination and family play.
I would love more sets like this one. There are many in the series and great for play and education.
Just a great set of blocks: buy two!

My four-year-old son really loves these blocks. They are smooth, well-made, easy to build with, and fun to use. And they are a real hit with everyone in our family. These are an excellent choice.
My son has always been quite good with puzzles and spatial recognition. So he quickly outgrew his "little kid" blocks. They fell over too easily. They didn't really allow him to build enough different kind of structures. In short, he was always frustrated with the run-of-the-mill colored blocks. By contrast, he really appreciates the architectural diversity these blocks afford him. He can build doorways big enough to fit his small wooden people (about 1 inch tall).He can explore different angles and create different styles of buildings. He can do all of this without help - a plus for learning on his own. In short, he loves these blocks; he even asked us to purchase a second set!
I think the blocks will also have real staying power: My soon-to-be-forty-year- old husband was just as enthralled with them as my four-year-old. Some things never change! But that can be a good thing.
Buy a set; or buy two (highly recommended). You will not be disappointed.

The picture is very misleading. The blocks are MUCH smaller than I expected and the edges and points are sharp. I was expecting more of a classic soft-edged (and much larger) wooden block set as found in classrooms, but w/ the fun benefit of interesting shapes like stairs and arches. But the picture makes the pieces look about twice the size of the real blocks. The stairs alone are teeny-tiny (small enough to be a choking hazard for my 1 year old) and they look huge in the picture. Not what I expected and my 3 year old (the person I bought the blocks for) could care less about them. To no fault of the toy I guess, though I can't help but wonder if he'd be more interested in them if they were larger since he loves his large legos. Perhaps he'll enjoy them when he's older, but for now they stay on the shelves. Even my 5 year old isn't interested.

I have no complaints about the product. However, it was much smaller in size with smaller parts than I anticipated.

Very fun. It can be used at a very young age and then slowly accumulate the difficulty as time goes on. Very smooth wood pieces too.

Great building toy for age 5+. Pieces are much smaller than expected, but our son loves it and has built several different castles with them. Thanks.

The only problem I have is the name. (It's "Romanic" on the box, not Romantic, and it should be "Romanesque" in English.) But it was a gift for my daughter's friend and it was a huge hit! I can't wait to order a set for my daughter's birthday, too. I fell in love with HABA toys when we were in Switzerland. They are just awesome!

My 4 year old has always loved building blocks. This is a wonderful set. I'm not sure who loves it more - her or me.

I bought these to go along with the Haba extra large starter set for my great-grandson. I was extremely happy with the starter set but I had expected this set to be similar in scale to the other blocks. They are much smaller and I even have a hard time balancing them when building. My 3 year old great-grandson has been completely frustrated and will not even play with them now. Thankfully he loves the other set.

We love the set. It's very well made-the quality is fantastic. It's a slightly smaller scale than we had imagined, but it's turned out to be fine.

We first saw these sets at the Field Museum in Chicago where my 6 1/2 year old son just flipped over them. He loves architecture and building and I know he will love them and get lots of creative use from them. I can't tell you exactly how he likes them yet since they are Christmas gifts. We also ordered the arch set and both building block sets, the basic and deluxe, to fuel his desire to build incredible buildings. Thank you for having them in stock (many sites would only have one or two items in stock or they were backordered). I got the impression that HABA block sets were highly rated in some parenting magazine recently, and therefore the toy to buy-many of the HABA sets were sold out. Thanks for having such a great selection of thought provoking toys/tools for the kid in all of us!
