Great Game
Posted 1/17/2007

Rating:

This game was very highly recommended by the Mensa Society. I purchased it as a gift for my son's 15th birthday. It is attractive & made of sturdy plastic. There are 3 levels of play. I am at the lowest level which is challenging and engrossing. The moves are less complex than chess (so the rules are much easier to learn) but the implications of each move are not. You need to plan ahead and anticipate your opponent's moves. A two person game.

This game is AWESOME!!!
Posted 7/2/2008 by Noah Smith

Rating:

This high-speed, fast-paced laser game is really intense! I really love it. A great family game, the experience is really amplified with the Eye of Horus beamsplitter, which reflects in into 2 beams! The strategy is also great to teach little kids the concept of angle and trajectory. But overall, this game if FUN FUN FUN!!!

My son loves this game!
Posted 6/6/2008 by Debbie O.

Rating:

Khet is a game which combines the strategic thinking of chess with the technology of lasers and mirrors. My 13-year old son had played this at someone else's house, and was excited to get it for his birthday. The whole family has enjoyed the challenge of trying to think offensively and defensively at the same time, and often find someone winning without meaning to! It's a very clever game, and I wish more stores carried it.

Fun, but slightly flawed
Posted 4/23/2008 by Christopher Chandler

Rating:

Khet is a fun game that reminds me of a chess gameboard with lasers. The concept is great and the expansion pieces provide another great level of complexity. My only complaint with this game is that the pieces are somewhat inferior. The plastic pieces provide a cheap feel and the mirror alignment is somewhat askew so when you have multiple deflections, it misses its target and takes away from the game. Overall, good game.

Rating:

This game is a favorite in my GATE classrooms (Gifted Education:3rd-5th grades) as well as with my own kids. It exercises strategy and visual perception skills in a very fun and concrete manner. More sophisticated players have are challenged to plan several moves ahead while beginners still enjoy satisfying results. It would could easily be tied to lessons about angles, mirrors and reflection, etc.

Khet- Combining Ancient & Modern Technologies
Posted 1/9/2008 by Remy, Age 16

Rating:

Impressive and educational. Very easy to play. Fun for players of all ages. The idea of combining ancient Egyptian structures with modern-day lasers makes it both unusual and compelling. I had asked for this item as my number one, most wanted gift. When I opened it up and played it, it exceeded my expectations! If you love geometry or science, have an interest in Egyptian architecture or are intriqued by lasers you will thoroughly enjoy this game.

Review for Khet (fomerly Deflexion)
Posted 12/27/2007 by Sheri Holt

Rating:

A very fun game that requires strategic thinking. It is simple enough for even younger children (age 5 or 6?) to enjoy, yet challenging for skilled players. My only complaint is that one laser seems to have faulty wiring and only works part of the time which of course is frustrating.

We got the Khet game and the Khet beamsplitter for our son. We have all played him at the game; it is similar to chess but with laser beams. You really have to think about where you are bouncing the beams or you can eliminate your own pharaoh! Excellent game.

Khet
Posted 12/18/2007 by Jill Lipoti

Rating:

My son is 13 years old. He unwrapped Khet among lots of other things, but he was intrigued and it was the first thing that he played with. He and his cousin (age 11) really enjoyed playing with Khet - even over electronic games. They started a real rivalry and played for hours. It snowed, and still they played Khet. Finally, they agreed to go outside to play, but Khet was a bit hit after they came in for hot chocolate.

Product review of Khet (fomerly Deflexion)
Posted 10/22/2007 by Eric Brand

Rating:

A fun game that sometimes yields surprising results. The game can quickly turn around to your favor with just the flip of a mirror. While there are various starting positions for pieces, they are not set in stone and you are free to create your own starting positions. We've just started experimenting with starting the mirror pieces away from the lasers and then once you feel like you've got a good setup, its a race for the laser squares.

Fantastic Concept, But...
Posted 7/28/2007 by Alan Flewitt

Rating:

My family loves playing this game; however, there appears to be manufacturing error on the board insomuch as when the reflective pieces are placed along one particular side of the board the laser beam is projected up at an angle thereby missing its target. We either physically move the piece so the reflective beam is horizontal or draw its desired path with our fingers.

Product review of Khet (fomerly Deflexion)
Posted 4/15/2007 by Cameron

Rating:

Khet is the most original strategy game to come along in some time. The concept is fantastic, but the game itself could have been designed better. The pieces and the game board are made of cheap plastic. It is a really fun game to play and it takes some serious thinking, but the whole experience could be better if the pieces were more pleasant to handle.

Best New Game in Years
Posted 4/10/2007

Rating:

You might think that this is just another hokey game that puts "laser" in the tag line to get sales, but that couldn't be further from the truth. This is a serious game that uses lasers to create innovative, highly strategic gameplay. The rules are very simple and straightforward. My seven year old understood them the first time. From there, the strategies and potential complexity scale with the abilities of the players. My younger kids (6 and 7) have a fun time finding ways to blast each other's pieces. My older kids (9 and 11) find some seriously complex ways to bounce the laser around the board. Adults would find almost chess-like complexity. One turn of a mirror completely changes the field, not just for your laser, but for your opponent's laser too. Without question, Khet is the most original strategy game in years. Two thumbs way up.

I Love Khet
Posted 2/20/2007 by Lucy Alexandra McNamara

Rating:

It's really fun! It's very fast-paced, but there's a lot of strategy involved, and you can mix up the starting positions of the pieces to make the game more varied. As I read elsewhere, it is sort of like chess with lasers. Definitely a good game for all ages!

Excellent game. Love the strategy. The only drawback is that the laser line was not exactly centered on one laser. After about 7 mirrors, it will be off the side. Not a problem that we encounter often. Overall, we are very pleased.

Khet is a unique game that is easy to learn but harder to master. I've been playing with my 14 year old son and we are having a blast. You have to think strategically as in chess, but the lasers/mirrors add a whole new dimension. I am looking forward to getting the beam splitter add-on.

The lasers have that high-tech "wow" factor; but more importantly, Khet requires much the same kind of strategic thinking as classic games like chess or checkers. Even so, my 8 year old son had no difficulty in picking up the game rules and does quite well.

Excellent Game
Posted 1/7/2007 by Eric D. Thiel

Rating:

My kids are having a good time (me too). Our 6 year old* is enjoying beating his 11 year old sister. It is simple enough for our 6 and 9 year olds to play, but the longer range strategy is complex enough to keep their engineer parents thinking. This game is fun for 5-6 to play with, but most will have difficulty "looking ahead". Most 8-10 year olds should be able to play a few moves ahead--this is a good way to learn to think ahead. *Our 6 year old beats his dad at Othello so he's a bit unusual.

Khet
Posted 1/3/2007 by Brenda Zink

Rating:

I purchased the game for my 11 year old son. The rules of play were very easy. Once he realized the lazer was deflected at a 90 degree angle he was able to predict how his moves would turn out. Thinking a few moves ahead is important in this game. I recommend this game.

A Minute To Learn... How Long To Master?
Posted 1/3/2007 by Richard D. Alloway

Rating:

Khet has a few very simple rules: All beams bend 90 degrees. You can move all pieces one space in any direction OR rotate it 90 degrees. Djed pieces can swap with any non-Djed piece. If any laser beam hits any non-mirror side of a piece, that piece is removed from play. Try to hit your opponent's pharoah! Now, applying these rules to come up with coherent gameplay takes some thinking! I've only had the game for a week, but I think every victory has come from an epiphany of "Hey! I can win if I just move/rotate this one piece!" At this point in the learning curve, we're focusing primarily on offense. Once we get that figured out, we'll work on defending more. The only things I'd change would be the buttons that fire the lasers and the location of the battery compartment(s). To sum up, I guess I can say thanks to my sweetheart for getting me Khet! I look forward to many years of gameplay!

Lots of Challenging Fun
Posted 12/28/2006

Rating:

This game is very enjoyable. At first glance it looks rather easy, but after playing a couple games you realize how much is involved in it. You have to pay a great deal of attention to your opponent's moves and keep track of where both lasers are going to end up or you'll end up eliminating yourself. If you like chess or enjoy a good challenge, here's a new one to try.

A Nice Relaxing Game of Laser Chess
Posted 11/22/2006

Rating:

"Laser Chess" was exactly what I thought when I first saw this game. The game play is very easy to pick up once you're informed of the rules, and it's possible to beat a seasoned opponant your first game if you play right. I like the Egyptian motif and the use of lasers. The only warning I can give is make sure to clean your mirrors, smudges are a pain.

Khet
Posted 11/17/2006 by Terry Hargraves

Rating:

I ordered 2 for grandchildren and one for me because it looked cool. I've only opened mine, and it arrived in good condition and operates just as it should. The lights come on, the mirrors reflect and the targets light up just as they should. I've had fun just setting up pieces and seeing how the reflections work, but so far haven't found anyone to actually play against. My only complaint is that it's cheap plastic. For kids, maybe that's just as well, but I would have paid more for a version that looks good on a coffee table, like a fine chess set.

Very Cool Game

Very different style of game. The rules are incredibly simple but the strategy involved is something else. The game itself appears well made and was packaged very nicely. It even came with the batteries! I think this will be one of those games that gets brought out at every gathering and taken to conventions to show off.

I believe that this board game tops all others. It is always different and can be enjoyed for hours at a time. Me and my brothers play it and we love to try to fake out the other by trying new things that have never been done before. Thank you for this outstanding product!

Information about Khet (fomerly Deflexion)

Fun and challenging game. The more you play, the more complicated (strategic) it can become. Quality of the craftsmanship not quite what I'd expect for a $40 board game but the concept of the game can keep strategic thinkers occupied for hours.

Loved it. The first one we purchased was for a gift for someone outside our house. It was so much fun, we purchased a second one for our 17 year old's birthday.

Chess with Lasers

So, I initially ordered this game because I thought it'd be something mildly entertaining to play when I had guests. Now, you can find it under my arm, or in the back seat of my car. I'm constantly looking for someone to play against. It's amazingly addicting. There are so many strategies, so many variations, even varying starting positions.

Fantastic Thought Provoking Game

This game is a great game to make you think. Not only do you have to think about how to take out your opponent, you have to be very careful to avoid taking out yourself. Every move has to be thought of as both defensive and offensive because your opponent can use your pieces against you if you place them poorly. If you like games that make you think and you like games like chess you'll love this game.

Great game. My 12 and 10 year old both loved it. So did I. It requires thinking and skill all with mirrors and a laser. How cool is that!

My rating of Khet (fomerly Deflexion)

This game is quite substantial and imposing right out of the box. The concept of the game is quite simple, but the game provides endless possibilities for victory and, sadly, defeat. If you like strategy games, Deflexion is a fine choice to add to your collection. And, if you go online, there are a number of sites that provide alternate rules and ways to use the pieces in the game, which make the game that much more en
