Fun, For A Short Time

The kite was fun for a short time. After about 5 flights, it took a nose-dive which caused the fiberglass rod to snap. Needless to say, it did not fly after that. We have contacted the manufacturer and can hopefully get a replacement rod.

An entertaining flying toy
Posted 11 days ago by Ken Duckworth

Rating:

The X2 Power Flyer arrived in good order and required very little assembly. The wing tips and the tail fin had to be put into place but with no great difficulty except that the wing tip spars need some care as the spars have to be bent to get them into the centre block. This might prove difficult for a child in the 6 to 10 year age range as the spars could be easily broken in this process. Once assembled the Power Flyer flies well with minimal skill required in launching. Calm air is best but it is possible to fly in brisk wind although this means the flight will be unpredictable. Landings tend to cause the propeller shaft to bend but it is easily straightened so that flying can resume. An enjoyable toy that is a pleasure when it is in the air and because of its freedom from batteries and chargers. It is of interest that this toy closely resembles the man carrying Platz glider of the 1920s.

We will definitely be returning this toy as it doesn't perform well. We are not sure if it is defective or just not a good toy!

The first time we tried it out, it broke. The part that broke was the propeller stick because when I cranked it up, it bent down. I wasn't able to fly it after all.

Review of X2 Power Flyer

The propeller shaft support was drilled at a slight angle. In effect the airframe was powerless as the propeller would not rotate freely. I re-drilled the shaft support to correct the angle (took apart the propeller mechanism). Once straightened out - the propeller rotated well. The structure flies well. Other than some irritation with the quality control of the product, I am happy with my purchase. Other people might send the product back as defective, but I figured out the problem and had the tools and time to fix it.

The flyer we ordered did not fly as advertised. The pin the propeller was attached to was bent and needed to be fixed. Even after I fixed the prop it still did not fly as advertised. (Note From Fat Brain Toys: We apologize for the defect and wish your Power Flyer was in the air. We immediately contacted Mr. Bazan and will be shipping a replacement Power Flyer out to him.)
