I bought these for my son's second birthday. He has used them in the water and spins them on the ground, sometimes stands on them or sits in them ... but his attention toward them is greatly limited, more so than any of his other toys. I don't know if it is his age? Maybe he will find more things to do with them as he matures. I had hoped he they would engage him more than they do right now. It is almost time for some snow so we are looking forward to trying them out on the hill as a sled, perhaps they will be a hit then?

My son is 18 months old and has not yet engaged play in the Bilibo. He looks at it and bangs on it like a drum, but was a little apprehensive when we put him in it to spin. Ironically, he loves a sit and spin. This is just a different approach to spinning I guess. I'm not concerned though. I'm sure in a few months he will love the Bilibo. Just a note, my oldest son, 17 years, and his friends have enjoyed trying to fit in the Bilibo and spinning.

I bought the Bilibo for my two older grandsons (ages 4 and 2) to use at my house during a recent visit. I was disappointed by their lack of interest in it. They both sat in it but couldn't get it to do anything but tip over. It ended up serving as a toy box. In all fairness, there were other interesting things to do, and if their visit had been longer they eventually might have investigated the Bilibo more.

My daughter is still trying to determine what exactly you're supposed to do. Trying to convince her that -anything goes- is more of a challenge than I had anticipated, the whole scenario has provided great insight into how much modern toys have taken the free thinking and imagination out of many toys. Often used as a balance toy I find she is apt to fall out of or off of the toy. At this age (2) I encourage her to use on the carpet.

I am a pediatric physical therapist and bought it to use with my clients. I've only had a couple of kids try it and it was too hard because they were lacking enough trunk control. I'm not sure but maybe if it had handles it would be a little easier to use for the physically challenged. I plan to continue using it but it's really too early to give you a adequate review.

I ordered this toy for my 23 month old Grandson. I think he is still too young for it. My 8 year old grandson is too big. It was built well and seems fun. I will put it away for next year and am hoping that he be ready for it then.

Our son is enjoying the Bilibo both indoors & out. It is a wonderful toy. However the product did not look 100% new. It came with scuffs and scratches on the innerside surface and out. It almost looked like a "floor model". With that aside, we are pleased with how our son took to the product.
 |
 |
Hmm... We are stumped on this one. Products sold by Fat Brain Toys are new products. We contacted our customer to offer a refund or replacement for the scratched product. We expect customers to be 100% satisfied with the products we sell, please visit our Customer Service page for details.

Review of bilibo

The pink one was given to my 2 yr old niece (with brothers, ages 4, 6 & 8). They did not show the slightest interest in it, maybe because of the color. My niece did not really seem to want to play with it; however, I could not keep my 2.5 yr old daughter away from it! She put her dolls in it - dragged them all over the house in it - rocked them (she has an actual baby cradle, but chose to put her babies in the Bilibo!) and she kept trying to sit in it. She is delighted with her yellow Bilibo. She is sitting in it, and giving spin rides to all her dollies and animals. When I put it on my head, it scares her a bit, but she is still very small.

I was surprised to see that my three grandchildren (aged 5, 3, & 2) weren't really enthralled with their Bilibos. I got them each one, and showed them the booklet that came with them, to give them some ideas of how it's used. I sat the children in them and twirled them, but they were not impressed. Maybe over time they will be drawn into playing with them. I liked the idea of them, but perhaps these children prefer something that lights up and/or plays music, as so many toys today do!
 |
 |
We recommend giving children the Bilibo without the instruction booklet and then sitting back to watch. The joy of discovery is what makes Bilibo a unique toy. Children tend to decide for themselves what to do with Bilibo. Though, if your child does not respond with 100% enthusiasm, you can be certain of our 100% guarantee. My son is 22 months. He's still a little too small to enjoy the spinning aspect of the toy without hurling himself into the floor. When he's more solid with balance, I think this will entertain him quite a bit. I am disappointed that it picks up every piece of dirt and lint from the floor.

I really like the idea of this toy, though my girls haven't yet taken to it as much as I'd hoped. The 1 year old is too little to manuever it. The 3 yr old enjoys using it as a hat, shell, or house, but hasn't really figured out how to spin in it. If a kid leans backward while sitting/spinning in this toy, they could fall back and possibly hit their head. My 3 yr old can't remember not to do that. A child who is a bit more coordinated or physically precocious than mine might find it lots of fun.

It's a good idea for a toy. I took a chance on buying it, but my kids haven't really latched on to it. When they do play with it, their favorite thing to do is spin around in it. This is definitely a toy that needs to be tailored specifically to a child's personality.

I think my son might be too young for the Bilibo (17 months). He looked at it, but didn't enjoy sitting in it or spinning in it, or using it for much of anything yet. I'm hoping that this will change as he matures, because it seems like a neat open-ended toy.

This toy looks great on the website & all the reviews that I'd read about it were fantastic, so I took the plunge and ordered it for my almost two-year old. He was initially very curious about the new object, but he hasn't really taken to it. It just sits in the corner for now gathering dust. I think perhaps that it would work better for an older child or for a child with siblings. I am also concerned that he may use it as a step stool in the future (something I did not think about prior to my purchase of the Bilibo). Overall, a good design and well executed, but like everything else, it just depends on the individual child.

I gave this to my son on his 2nd birthday. He has mostly ignored it in the week since. I still have it out, and hold hope he will take an interest in it eventually. It is an attractive toy, and of a good build. Strong yet light material. Even on all sides, so it is sturdy as a climbing object. The yellow color is bright and cheery. Exactly what I had hoped for. If he doesn't take to it, it will still be a place I can store toys, and it was a good price.

We got this for our 21 month old, but she doesn't have the ability to balance her weight so we can spin her in it. The 3 1/2 year old big sister has a lot more fun with it. It is basically a seat to be spun in - I've tried to encourage other uses with no luck.
 |
 |
He's a well-rounded character. As little children enter the developmental stage of imaginative play - they typically see other sides of Bilibo.

Our little guy might just be too little. He is only 13 months, but when we put him in it, he got scared and cried, so now he doesn't like it. He occasionally puts toys into it and pushes it around. Hopefully he will get more fun out of it when he is a little older.

 |
The fundamental truths of the Bilibo. 1. Bilibo likes children sitting in him only when they are not crying. 2. Bilibo's best features are often discovered over time. 3. After reading all of the great reviews for this product, I thought that my 2 year old son would really like this gift. However, he really had no interest in it at all and rarely plays with it. He has maybe used the bilibo about 5 times, and all that he used it for was to carry his matchbox/toy cars around. The quality of the product is fabulous, but my son is just not interested in it at all.

I ordered this toy for my son because it was rated as one of the top rated toys since 2001. My son has no clue what to do with it. It says it does not come with directions because it is for children to do whatever they want with. Right now, I have it just holding some stuffed animals.

I thought this toy was pretty neat when I opened it. It is a well constructed, smooth plastic toy. Initially all 3 of my children: 3 years (who gift was for), 8 years, and 10 years thought it was cool. They climbed on it, used it as a turtle shell, and tried to spin in it. Once the novelty wore off after a few days, they lost interest. A few months later, it sits unused. It is not very safe or stable for spinning, (its only real fun use). I will try to incorporate it into future toy storage. I would not buy it again.

My daughter is 3. She wasn't quite sure of what to do with Bilibo and really relied on me to show her so we opened the instructions and flipped through all of the pictures to figure something out. She wanted to put it up on the couch but I was concerned about safety. We tried it in the snow and it was a not go. I'm not sure what we will do with it, but maybe something will come to mind.

I bought two Bilibos. One for my almost 3 year old and one for my almost 18 month old. They both need active play so I was hoping that they would play with the Bilibo together. They were excited at first - wearing it over their heads, stepping on them. However, they haven't played with them since. I think it's because they are both not strong enough to sit and spin themselves around. They keep falling over and can't get their balance in them. I intend on keeping them because I see the potential for great imaginative and active play. I just think they're still too young to appreciate the toys.

Interesting toy that lets the child decide its purpose. While my child thinks it's a better hat than anything else at this point, I think that will change over time. He sits in it and lets me spin him around. He hasn't learned how to balance and spin himself yet. His continued interest in the toy tells me that he will find many uses for it in the future. For now we'll give it 3 stars.

A Cute Seat

I bought a blue one and the color is very bright and cheery. My 15-month-old son likes to climb in and out of it and spin around. He also loves to climb so he really likes to set it three-points-down and climb on top. One thing I just didn't expect is that there is no flat spot on the bottom. Because of that it's very hard to sit in it without it tipping over. My three-year-old can get in it and balance much easier than my 15-month-old so it might be a better buy for a child who knows how balance. Overall, I'm happy with this purchase.

I ordered Bilibos for our 2 granddaughters (ages 2 and 4). The bright and colorful Bilibos caused lots of excitement but it was short lived... They really didn't know what to do with them so I helped the girls sit in them and spin around... The 4 yr. old was able to spin but didn't care that much for it... It was too unsteady for the 2 yr old to feel comfortable spinning... The most fun they had was taking turns putting the Bilibo on their head and looking through the holes (ala Fat Albert character) morphing into a monster while the other pretended to squirt monster spray to eradicate the offending beast... I think these toys are like those cardboard box blocks.... There are no lights, moving parts or noises but; somehow, you keep returning to them for play in different ways.

Interesting toy, but not our favorite

My boys (ages 1 and 3) were intrigued by this toy, but there isn't a great deal they can do with it. I thought they would use it to rock back and forth, spin, and wear as a turtle shell. Unfortunately, the dome is too steep for them to rock in it (instead of going gently side to side, they just tip over). The shape isn't conducive to wearing like a turtle shell--the scalloped edges prevent it from fitting to their backs. They might be able to spin in it when they get more coordinated, but not yet. As for the many other uses it suggests, I don't think it really serves those purposes. It suggests using it as a sled, but a real sled would work better. It can be a pretend crib, but a cardboard box would work just as well. It can be played with in the sand, but a regular old bucket has a handle and is a better size. Finally, it is clunky and hard to store. I would not recommend buying it.

I told everyone in the room about the toy before my grandson opened it and told them to let him decide what it was. My grandson opened the bilibo and just looked at it with a question on his face. We stayed quiet and after a while asked him what he thought it was. Without hesitation, he said, "It is a baby toilet" - we have been trying to potty train. I went ahead and showed him that he could sit in it and stand on it and put it on his head and look through the holes. But, all night he just said that it was a baby toilet. The next time he was at my house, he insisted that it was a helmet. We played with it and I got some chuckles from him when I spun him around. Overall, I think it was a little overpriced but it did spark his imagination.
