I had a lot of fun with my nine year old son. He already enjoys K'NEX. They allow a great deal of room for creativity.

This is a good collection of K'nex pieces with cool gears for making moving models. My 5 year old son loves K'nex and is also a huge LEGO fan, so the only disappointment is with the quality of the K'nex bricks, which are a little tough to put together (even for me!) and which tend to fall apart while building. We made a model with bricks, but found it frustrating, so we've been concentrating on the "connector" parts mostly now. Some interesting models included, and more instructions available online at the K'nex website. Instructions are tricky to follow, but there is A LOT that you can do with these building pieces and it definitely encourages creative building. Lots of fun and a cool case, too.

K'Nex Gear Action 20 Model Building Set is great! My granddaughter enjoys making the models and creating her own. The set is easy to use but can create challenging models, just right for her. We'll have to add to her set with more so she can build bigger and better creations.

My 5 year old grandson has a basic 550 piece K'NEX set and has lots of fun building his own creations with it. He is also quite good at following the instructions for building K'NEX designed models. He is frustrated because some of the colors in the instructions do not match the color of the corresponding K'NEX pieces. He builds a vehicle perfectly according to the colors in the instructions, but it doesn't work because the red rod shown in the instructions should really be colored orange, and the red rod in the set that he used is an inch longer than the orange rod, which is the one that fits. K'NEX mentions in the instructions that the colors may not match, but shame on them. I expect that my grandson will eventually learn how to compensate for the faulty instructions, but K'NEX would be a lot more fun for him if he didn't have to do that.

I ordered this for my brother's birthday and he really enjoys it. It's good quality and he spends a lot of time building with it.

My son loves this set. He has always been fascinated with building - legos, knex, wooden blocks, cards, etc. This gear set gave him insight to gears ability to enable movement. I could almost see the "ah ha!" on his face.

I have a 9 and 11 year old, both of my kids enjoyed it. They found it much more fascinating than other KNEX sets that they have.

I have an 11 year old son with Aspergers syndrome. He can sit and play with K'nex for hours on end, designing, building and then recreating amazing things. They allow him to see what he imagines and then share it with the rest of us. The gear action pieces allow for more versatility in his creations and the sets are interchangeable so he can build bigger and better things. For a kid with a different view on the world, these really do allow for awesome creative play. Much more freedom to create than Legos as well!

My grandson loved it! It has lots of building possibilities from the instructions and pictures included, but there is also the wonderful actuality of creating models from his own imagination! It is hours of creative and stimulating fun with the intellectual and learning virtues of following directions, encouraging eye-hand coordination, manipulating complicated concepts like gears and pulleys and making spectacular things from what looks like a bunch of plastic sticks, wheels and pieces! Good old fashion fun!

Our daughter (8) received her fisrt set of K'Nex for her birthday. She started to build as soon as she opened it. K'Nex are safe, fun and challenge everyone's imagination.
