This is a Xmas gift for my grandson so I can't answer this question. I feel he'll love this toy as many tots for many years have.

The toy was a gift for a talented 4-year old boy. We got it for him because he was in love with a different, smaller version of the same toy. Now he has even more Lincoln logs. He studies the design pictures and then carefully and quietly constructs perfect replicas with the logs and additional pieces, following the design pictures. He is enthralled with this toy. He prefers it to Lego bricks. It is a shame that Lincoln logs are no longer sold as widely as they used to be, having been overtaken by Lego bricks (which are also a very good toy). I am grateful to Fat Brain Toys for still carrying this product when other stores and on-line outlets have dropped it. This toy is wonderful for building dexterity, concentration and other skills that young children should acquire. I am extremely happy with this purchase.

Presentation of the product in a round metal container was attractive and will help the five year old recipient hold on to the pieces. I bought it as an alternative to ubiquitous electronic toys. We'll see if it catches on.

Great quality product. Both fun and educational. It was just as I remembered from my own childhood! I do plan on buying more to add to the set.

Like the product and what it teaches the grandkids, unfortunately, there are few pieces per package that allow limited projects ...

Good ol' favorite

I wanted my boys to have Lincoln Logs as they were among my favorites as a kid. At 6 & 7 they are just getting the hang of them. I admit, I got them a set last year and there was not as much interest, but now that they have so many and can build more structures to form a "town" or "village" they are starting to get more interested. They don't work together on structures and in fact, are more successful with this toy when working on a structure alone. But I am keeping my hopes up that as they gain ability, they will come to love them as much as I did.

A Classic

Got this gift for 4 y.o. son who loves legos and magna tiles. We picked Lincoln Logs b/c it fit with his enjoyment of building things and we both played with these as children. So a bit sentimental for us and a good educational, yet fun toy for him. Only wish it came with more pieces.

I am so pleased you carry a good, old fashioned toy like Lincoln Logs, that has such great quality which is not nearly as common today. I especially like the Bicentennial Edition because of the "free-style" which can make several different structures using my children's imaginations. Also that it honors Abraham Lincoln.

Lincoln Logs Bicentennial Edition

When my boys were little, I purchased Lincoln Logs for them and they LOVE them. When my grandson turned three, I thought it was a perfect age to introduce him to the set. Lincoln Logs are timeless! My grandson loves them every bit as much as my two boys did at his age...and older.
Highly recommend these...especially to Grandparents hunting for that 'perfect gift' for Christmas!

Creativity with Lincoln Logs
Posted 12/31/2009 by Robert Wanamaker

Rating:

I really enjoy the time I spend playing with my grandchildren. Lincoln Logs are fun to play with and also encourage the creativity and imagination of both child and adult. This is the kind of toy that lets you have fun and learn to create a small structure at the same time.

My grandson loved his Lincoln logs. They're just like I remembered them as a child. They are a tradition in our family. Everyone from child to adult wants to try to build their dream cabin out of them.

Everything is just how I remember - wooden logs, red wooden roof supports, and green-stained wooden roof slats. And the delicious wooden smell when you open the tin. Nothing fancy and nothing plastic. I love it!

My daughter complained that this set did not have enough of the colored pieces, so you can't vary structures enough.
