It was a smash. The Lincoln Logs couldn't be put away, the little guy was even willing to give up dinner to play with the logs. I was impressed with them. I don't quite remember my own set but this set was great. I couldn't have made a better choice.

A rating of Lincoln Logs - Collector's Edition
Posted 1/30/2007 by George L.

Rating:

Extremely high quality that exceeded my expectations. All pieces are finished to eliminate the possibility of splinters. The carrying case is very high quality as well. There are plenty of pieces to permit creativity beyond what is put forth in the directions and instructions. These Lincoln Logs are for my three grandsons to use on rainy days at the lake or in the evening, but they have not seen them yet. However, "someone" has constructed several log cabins with them already and he found them very engaging.

The quantity of the larger logs I thought seemed small. I am 54 years old and my Lincoln Logs came in containers like Quaker Oats containers. I remember building larger houses then.

The Collector's Edition is a great set. It includes as real wooden roof. Not the cheap plastic ones included in the sets from Toys R Us.

I was disappointed that there were not more Lincoln log pieces. I felt the price went toward the nice box but not the building pieces.

Very nice toy for my twin 5 year old girls. However, the set is rather small for the price. Only 3 small "cabins" can be built at one time.

My son has been wanting another set of the Lincoln Logs, and they are very hard to find in the stores and online. When I found you had a supply of this set, I ordered it right away. My son was very excited when I gave the set to him, and he did not waste any time building with it. The quality is very good, and the beautiful wood case makes this set very special.

Great Lincoln log set with a bonus of a terrific wooden storage box. We want to spend hours with our grandson building and learning. This Collector Edition allows for ease of storage which will keep the logs in great shape for what is hoped will be grandson (or granddaughter) number 2.

A wonderful "retro" set to be enjoyed both by parents who fondly remember Lincoln Logs from childhood and today's children as well.

They DO make 'em like they used to!
Posted 8/18/2005 by Jason Sokoloff

Rating:

I was hard-pressed to find a set of Lincoln Logs that contained all-wood pieces. Though a bit pricey, this set was well worth the money for the wooden roof pieces that don't come in the mass-market sets that are more widely available.
The carrying case is also made of wood. All in all, this toy is something that will last well beyond my daughter's childhood.

Lincoln Logs - Collector's Edition - avoid
Posted 7/27/2005 by Jerry Flatto

Rating:

We have bought some of the newer lincoln log sets for our kids but the sets didn't come with that many longer logs so we tried the collector's edition with the hope that it would contain more of the longer logs (3 and 4 length logs).
Unfortunately, the set didn't include many of the longer logs. Additionally, there was a warning with the set that said that the stain on the logs might come off so do not use the logs on carpet. There are few places in our house that are not carpeted and trying to explain this to 3 year olds is not effective.
Overall, we were quite disappointed in the set in terms of meeting our needs. Others mileage may vary. None of our comments are a negative reflection on Fat Brain. We have been extremely pleased with their service and support.

Lincoln Logs Collector's Edition
Posted 7/6/2005

Rating:

These are the same as the Lincoln Logs my brothers and I played with as children. The wooden box is beautiful, but to be truthful I purchased this set because it had the largest selection of building elements which would allow for "free play". My 10 yr old has already created many variations of houses, barns, fences and even bunkers for his army men. I consider this set to be an excellent value. Many other toys today may be inexpensive, but most of them will break, require batteries, or become obsolete as soon as the next movie or cartoon comes along. These are very well-made and stimulate thinking and creativity. We will be keeping this set for our future grandchildren.

Lincoln Logs - the BEST TOY for grandkids
Posted 5/5/2005 by Alice Emmert

Rating:

Our grandchildren have been playing with their parents' Lincoln Logs ( at least 30 yrs old ) and now that there are 10 grandkids, the "old set" did not have enough pieces to go around. The Lincoln Logs are the first toys of choice when visiting grandpa and grandma's house, so after searching the web for bigger sets than available in the department stores, we found FAT BRAIN TOYS. Our order was shipped in record time, and was tracked with e-mails daily until the package arrived at our home.
We are sooooo pleased with this product and FBT. The packaging of this set is beautiful, and we expect our great grandchildren will be enjoying the Lincoln Logs for years to come. In this age of battery operated toys that blink and speak and screech, how refreshing to see these children playing together - building their "dream houses".

I loved Lincoln Logs in the '60s and these are as close as I have found to the "old" ones. No pre-fab roof. I bought these for my grandaughter, but the box is too heavy for her to carry. With all the contents, it weighs about 16 pounds. The box is a very nice, wooden with a handle. It measures 22x14x4. The Commemorative Edition would be a better selection for a small child. Only 115 pieces, but in a metal tin and easier to handle. Also less expensive. The Collector's Edition is for older kids (born in the 50s).

Authentic Lincoln logs -- quality wood which my 4 year old loves to handle and build with; no plastic, microchips or flashing lights. This toy challenges a child to use imagination and small motor skills, but easy enough to use that there is no frustration. I expect he'll use them for years and the designs will just get more complex.

Lincoln logs are a great toy that activate a child's imagination while enhancing their spacial-learning and fine-motor skills. They can keep a child's attention for hours as well as provide a fun shared-play activity with other children. My husband and I enjoy sitting down with our daughter and building things together. It's also a toy they won't outgrow overnight (or light up and make noise...thank goodness). I highly recommend them for both boys and girls!

My daughters, ages 9 and 11, loved the Lincoln Logs. They have always played with the set I had as a kid when they are at their grandparents. We have all kinds of cabins and buildings around the Christmas tree with our train. Even my husband joined in the building fun. I'm so glad I was able to get the all wooden sets. I had shopped in our area only to find plastic. That just isn't a Lincoln Log unless it is wooden. It is unfortunate, though, that this truely American item is now made in China.

I was pleased to see that the Collector's Edition of the old toy that I played with as a child had more pieces than I remembered and had actually become packaged better than I had remembered. I bought the set for my grandson, because he loves to build and I love to do it with him. I hoped he would enjoy them as much as I remembered I had. He does.
As a neat grandmother, I want something that cleans up in a compact way. The wooden carrying case is wonderful, organized and neat.
Very fine edition of a traditional toy. I couldn't be more pleased.

We purchased Lincoln Logs (Commemorative Edition) for our grandson for Christmas this past year because his mom noted that he liked building things with his toys. I questioned whether or not he would like such an old fashioned toy given all the video games and remote control toys he received. However, he asked us on another visit if we could buy him more Lincoln Logs next Christmas because he had run out and could only make one small cabin. We purchased the Collector's Edition for his birthday, and he loves the bigger set & the big case it came in!

Beautifully boxed in a keepsake container, these Lincoln Logs will provide hours of fun for my great grandchildren when they visit my home. More than fun, some things about building engineering are learned: determining the number and sizes of logs needed to build a project; putting the logs together; and designing original projects. I am very happy with this product.

Very nice box, but hardly enough logs. The lincoln log set I had as a child had many more logs and longer logs. Considering that I paid $80, I am disappointed in this set. Does Lincoln Logs sell a supplement to provide more logs. One can hardly build anything bigger than a small cabin.

My husband & I got these as a birthday gift for our 4 year old son. He loves building with them, as do his older (5 and 7 year old) siblings.
I remember spending hours building with my brothers when I was a kid. We built huge 4 story houses and barns - though I don't remember having any roofing material.
We love the set, but I wish there were more Lincoln Logs in it. The wooden "Collector's" box is super - well constructed and a wonderful keepsake for storing all our building materials! We're hoping it will hold more, as we already want to add to our set.
FatBrain had the best on-line price on the Collector's Edition, not to mention FREE SHIPPING!
The customer service at FatBrain was fantastic. This item was temporarily out of stock when I ordered it for our son's birthday. They were extremely helpful in trying to get the item back in stock and sent out to me in time for his birthday. They even called ME to keep me up-to-date on the shipping of the item. Thanks Kim and everyone else at FatBrain. I truly appreciate all your help. The Lincoln Logs are a big hit with all our kids! We will order from you again in the future.

The Lincoln logs are what we expected
Posted 11/14/2004 by Robert Roggenburg

Rating:

The Lincoln logs are what we expected and arrived in good condition. They were well packaged. The logs themselves have changed since I was a young boy but are still a very good way for youngsters to learn about building structures. They are for a grandchild who is four and we would like him to get interested in something better that video games of violance or fast cars. After looking through your flyer I was glad to see that you offer several other items which children can use to develope their minds and will keep your products in mind for future gifts.

The box is beautiful, but...
Posted 10/25/2004 by Clyde V. Scherer

Rating:

The box is beautiful, but the amount of product inside leaves a little bit to be desired. Thats why I ordered two items of Lincoln Logs to put inside to fill it up and the ability to build something a bit bigger than a four sided house. Also, like Lego's, it would be nice if I could buy specific pieces in groups.
