Hit of the Party
Posted yesterday by carol swindell

Rating:

This was a 4th birthday gift for a young boy. All the kids, both girls and boys spent the party putting these together. The parents say they are always picking them up so I guess they are used. It was a good choice I made.

We have the other Lincoln Logs set (in the heavy wood box) and were always running out of pieces, so my 4-year-old was excited to get this one. There are some very different pieces in this set, some that are much longer, which means we can build even more interesting cabins, doghouses, etc. We like this set a lot, but would have liked it even more if there were more diagrams and "models" to try to build; also, the diagram they do supply is really difficult to follow (in contrast to Lego models, for example).

great rediscovery

I like these better than the ones I used to have that had some plastic, these were all wood and i love the tin. It makes clean up so easy. My daughter loves the sound it makes when she plunks the wood in the tin. I never have any pieces on my floor. Although, I have to admit, I think my husband plays with them just as much as she does!!!

I bought this to start a toy box for my grandson. Rather than having mom and dad haul toys when they visit. They came by this past weekend and the Lincoln Logs were a big hit. My grandson just loved them. That is when he could get them away from his uncle. How many toys these days can you honestly say that they span so many generations?

I purchased the Lincoln Logs Commemorative Edition as a gift for my grandson 6 years and granddaughter 4 years. They were so excited to begin building and I was delighted to see that the quality was still as good as when I purchased a set for my son about 25 years ago. In a short while my husband, adult son and son-in-law were all busy building along with the children. What a great way to spend an afternoon! Thank you!

Overall, a good version of the classic Lincoln Logs. I purchased this set because it features all wood pieces. However, the pieces lack the flexibility required to build different buildings other than the one featured in the instructions.

Lincoln Logs Commemorative Edition
Posted 1/3/2008 by William Hough

Rating:

Big disappointment. A big can, but very few pieces. The directions build 1 building. The set contains such a small number of pieces it is hard to build other structures. I have told others to keep this toy in their memories. It's not like when we were kids and the basic set came with enough pieces to build all kinds to things. Also, the side of can (in small print) cautions not to use logs on carpet as wood stain may leech onto carpet. Sit on tile or hardwood floor to play with. (Note from Fat Brain Toys: We contacted Mr. Hough. We expect our customers to be 100% satisfied with the products we sell and the service we provide. My three grandsons ages 3, 4 and 7 each got 1 container. They all enjoyed them. They quickly gave up on the instructions to build the fort and just began building. It kept them entertained for over an hour. That is no small feat! Thank you so much. We had a set that was about 50 years old and was missing quite a few pieces. Now we have enough to satisfy all three kids at the same time.

These are made in China so I was a little wary of product. I read the Info sheet and they warn you that the dye may come off onto the rug if wet. Watch the little ones so they won't put the product in their mouths. The logs were made good and fitted good onto one another. The older kids enjoyed playing with them.

The lincoln logs were just what we expected. However, the commemorative can was dented when we received it. We are giving this as a gift to our grandson, so my husband pushed the dent out. It's still obvious that it was dented but does not damage the contents in any way. That was a small disappointment and could have happened during the shipping process. It would not deter us from ordering from you again.

I have been looking for all wood toys for my children for a long time. I am just tired of plastic stuff that does not hold up. So when I found the Lincoln Logs "all wood pieces" I just had to get them. I didn't even know if my children would play with them. They did! They love them! My kids are 2, 8, 9 and 42 years old. We are very pleased with this purchase. I also felt it was a good value & purchased two sets.

In addition to the Commemorative Edition, I bought five other sets, to add the the two sets we already had. Lincoln Logs, are the most intriguing toy for kids of all ages. They are sturdy (one never breaks!), hundreds of configurations are possible, along with those suggested on the box. There can never be enough Lincoln Logs for my grandkids, who range from 7 to 16. Value is super, quality is excellent, concept is perfect - what more can one expect?

This toy really gets your kids' minds working. They have to think to figure out how to put these parts together. My 5 year old is much better with them than my 3 year old, but they enjoy anything they have to build. My only complaint is that there are not enough long logs. We'll probably have to purchase more. All in all, this is a great edition with all wood pieces and no plastic roofs or unnecessary figures, which we all have too many of as it is!

I'm so glad we went ahead and ordered this all-wood set. We were tempted to get one with plastic roofs and plastic pieces, but I'm glad we didn't. Our kids have enough plastic! These all wood blocks are simple enough for a preschooler, but also provide endless possibilities for older children. No wonder it has become a classic. I just wish I would have saved the cardboard liner that goes inside the container--our container is getting pretty dented.
