Lego Space Shuttle

Purchased 2 space shuttle legos, one for a 5 year old and the other for my son who is 6 years old. Both kids love space and legos so it was the perfect gift. Both children love them. Not falling apart like some of the other legos sets. Reasonably priced to.

So fun, even for four-year-old--and adults

My daughter (who usually loves princesses and unicorns) surprised us by telling us she really wanted a lego space ship. She saw this one and really wanted it. So we got it for her for Christmas, and we were delighted to see that she loves this shuttle. She works diligently (with parent support) to follow the visual directions that come with the lego set to put together the space ship in the right order. She is so interested in the instructions and using them to figure out how to put all the pieces together. We're just delighted that she is so interested in figuring out what is basically a 3-D puzzle, and thinking about what shapes/sizes fit together where and how. It's got her thinking about how to follow a map to think about space abstractly. It's really a learning experience for her and very fun. We've found that she tend to work on it really concentratedly for about 30 minutes, then takes a break to play with something else--then asks to come back to it. It's great to see. We tried doing a lego Friends project about 6 months ago, and she wasn't quite ready for it--almost like her fingers couldn't handle putting the legos together, but now at 4 years and 7 months, it's perfect for her.
