My 3 year old niece loves it! I was skeptical at first - since the game does not have flashing, blinking lights and doesn't make obnoxious noises, I was afraid her attention would not be held. Boy was I wrong! She can't get enough of it...I ordered supplemental cards after 2months of use. I would highly recommend this game.

Perfect Concept. The execution could be better. The pieces are plastic which I an not crazy about, but they are durable. The tray that holds the pieces is thin, cheap plastic. This makes removing the pieces difficult. The packaging is wasteful. I recommend the travel version, based on the description that it is the same game in a smaller box. Keeping the cards in order is a nuisance. Spiral binding would have been great.

JUST MY OPINION

This appears to be a great educational product. We are using it to help my daughter "warm up" for her kindergarten entrance tests (I know that sounds warped - but I live in NYC where getting into a good kindergarten - public or private - is like getting into Harvard! Ridiculous I know.)
She loves it and it is quite challenging. My only negative comment: There are A LOT of pieces, most of them quite small. It's very easy to lose them especially when the key user is a young child. Are replacement sets available - or does one have to purchase the entire kit?

I bought this product many years ago, maybe 20 years ago? I teach kindergarten and I had lost a few pieces. I noticed that my students really like to use this product, so I looked online to see if I could purchase a new one. I was thrilled to see that I could. My kindergarten students love using the game.

My three year old grandson loves it. In just a few days, he progressed from the lower levels to some of the higher ones. I'm happy to see there are even more levels to go to keep him interested. He had never encountered "half circles" before but now recognizes them immediately. Now if we can get him to recognized the diamond shapes as such instead of as "kites", we'll really be making progress!

Spatial Concepts the Fun Way

The pieces and cards are fairly high quality. The plastic insert in the box, which holds all the pieces and creates the first "puzzles" for the kids to put together, is flimsy and delicate. Given that you want it to hold up to repeated attempts at putting the puzzle together (and putting the pieces away), I was surprised to see how easily it would bend. That said, this is a cool collection of cards and pieces which help with spatial relations. My 3.5 year old likes to work on the puzzles with his 6 year old sister. She helps him out when he might otherwise get frustrated. She benefits, too, because she is working out the puzzle right along side him. I like how the cards, numerically ordered, get more complicated as you go along. You can choose certain ranges of cards for certain age levels, to prevent too much frustration.

I love teaching my child how to problem solve. This toy makes him do just that. He'll try to make the pictures with the shapes and I can see him turning the shapes around to see if it will match the picture outline. At 2 1/2 he is a little young for the toy and I have to work to keep him focused on the task but when the family sits down to play with him, he gets up to the 7th picture without help.

my 4 years enjoys it. the idea is fine but the product is made cheap. while setting up a shape in a plain flat paper, child touch what's already put up and have to make correction all the time. The magnetic may be better for this reason. overall, it's easy to play and a good product.

I purchased item MD140-1 Pattern Pieces and Boards for my granddaughter. I loved it and decided to buy a set for my youngest girls (ages 5 & 6). When I did a product search, the mighty mind set came up, I figured it was the same item and purchased it. The mighty mind set was not the same as the item for my granddaughter. It is O.K., builds skill and other important stuff, but just not what I was expecting.

Mighty Fun With MightyMind

I bought this product for my 4 year old daughter on my sisters recommendation. I was concerned that on the outside this looked to be very simplistic-these concerns went away when my daughter began to engage with it. It starts simple and gets harder as it goes and with the addition of other card sets one can expand on the activity. The big surprise was that she became so engaged that she just continued playing herself without attention from a parent. It's really a 5 rating but I knocked off a point for my personal wish to see a simple written exercise description on the back of each card describing the shape.

My four year old is inthralled by this game. He will sit there and work on the cards all by himself! I like how he concentrates and talks to himself when he tries to work them out. I intend on purchasing more cards to keep him challenged. I also like how it is portable and small and we could potentially use it on a car trip. Great idea!

My daughters (3 & 5 years old) both love MightyMind. It is great for teaching spatial relationships. The child has to actually decide which shapes he/she has to use to make the pictures. I also like the way it progresses, starting with simple shapes, and building its way up to harder pictures. I love it!!

Mighty Minds

We bought Mighty Minds first for our son. He's 3.5, and we have found it to be just challenging enough that he could figure out how it worked , but couldn't complete the hardest cards by himself... yet. It's nice because the cards get increasingly more difficult, so you get a couple of easy ones to get a feels for how it goes, and couple of pretty tough ones that will probably take some time, yet, before he can figure out. We find them to be good for getting him thinking, focused, and good for development of space relations.
We then purchased them again, as a gift for one of our son's friends who is turning 4.
The only complaint I'd have is that while you're working the shapes move around a lot, so if you place a shape where it should be, it's tough to keep it there while you work on placing the rest of the shapes. I've seen magnetic versions now, since we bought our's. That is probably the solution.

Great game. My 4 yr old really enjoys playing. It is amazing to see how quickly he has advanced through the easier designs, however, there are still plenty of designs to keep him challanged. Out of 30 cards, I think he can do the first 12 or so.
Also, it is made in the USA, which is a big plus for me.

this game is for my special ed classroom. I was slightly disappointed in the quality. The plastic shapes are nice, but not highly finished. The cards are stiff, but I had hoped for a depression where the pieces would fit in neatly. Instead they sit on top of the picture which increases frustration if they slide around. I like the progression of easy to hard pictures.

Received MightyMind during nap time, and I couldn't resist the product, and went through the 30 cards on my own to see what my kids would be doing later. After school and naptime, my 5 year old daughter and 3 year old son could not wait to tear into it. The first time through, we shared going through it, allowing my 5 year old to do the first card, first, on her own, then passing it along to her younger brother. This method worked well because he could learn from watching her what he was supposed to do with his card when it was his turn. He worked through the first 7 cards, then lost interest and ran off to play something else. My daughter worked through 21 cards before growing frustrated, and wanting to stop for the day. I was very impressed with the thought that went into this product to teach the progression of learning how to fit the blocks into the picture. This product was very well done, and I am very happy with it.

I bought this for my grandchildren to supplement the one I had kept from my children. That one had a few pieces missing but my kids had loved playing with it !! Now with the new set ( even though the new set has plastic pieces rather than wooden, they still work fine together ) my grandchildren ( ages 2 1/2 and 4 ) have plaenty of pieces and have lots of fun making the shapes !! One of the best parts is putting all the pieces back into the right place when we put it away !! It has become a special game to play at Mimi and Grampa's house...

My 3 year old was given this game/toy as a gift. I instantly put it up in the "not yet" pile in the closet thinking it was too old for him. He found it within days of storing it and wanted to play so badly that I brought it down. To my surprise, he was just the right age for it. He caught in quickly and loved trying to figure out each puzzle. He sits for long periods of time putting together the shapes to make a picture. I am so happy with the product and would recommend it for ages 3 and up.

We bought this toy as a Christmas present for my daughter who is 3 years, 5 months old. The box is not very flashy. Inside is a plastic tray, a bag of plastic shapes, and a set of puzzle cards.
The idea is that the adult (or older child, I suppose) arranges the plastic shapes into the plastic tray to match the set starting pattern given by the game. Then the child starts with puzzle card 1 and works the puzzles using the plastic pieces on the cards. The cards start with very simple puzzles, and increase in complexity.
The first card asks the child to first find two semi-circle shaped pieces. Once found, the child is expected to use these two pieces to form a circle. The cards eventually expect the child to arrange many pieces to form complex shapes, and then to layer shapes to form figures (like using circles on top of a formed shape to create what looks like eyes).
My daughter completed the first two cards, and lost interest. She is more interested in art and physical play, and needs encouragement to learn something new that she can't immediately do well. I can see, however, that this puzzle toy could be something to engage certain children for long periods of time, fairly independently. My baby is 18 months old and we plan to pass this toy down to her.

I have two boys (ages 5 and 2) and both love Mighty Mind Regular Edition. We purchased it with the intent to have it help fill my older boy's free time as his kindergarten does not span a whole work day. He sped thru the first 2/3's of the deck but got the mental workout we were looking for with the final 1/3 of the deck. He'll be moving on to the more complicated SuperMind editions soon. My younger boy sped thru the first 1/3 of the deck then slowed as we started the last 2/3's of the deck. Mighty Mind is a little complicated for a 2 year old but he enjoys it nonetheless.

Mighty Mind in fabulous. I had it for my children when they were growing up and now bought it for my granddaughter. It teaches shapes, manual dexterity, spacial dexterity, problem solving and there isn't one right answer, specially when you provide the child with 2 sets of the shapes. As a retired elementary teacher, I know how important all these skills are. Mighty Mind is also fun that my children and grandchildren constantly want to play with and have fun with.

My kids love the game, although the more advanced cards are too tough for my 6-year old right now. The cards come pre-hole-punched, which was nice- I just put binder rings through the holes to keep the cards in order. I will definitely be buying more pieces so that more than one kid can play at a time.

I always try to buy educational toys when giving gifts to kids. I bought this for my cousin's son who is turning 3. He can start with the simpler puzzles and move on to learn more complex ones. He can do it by himself for the simple ones. The older kids also like it though. It is an easy item to take a restaurant or the doctor's office to keep them busy. And the older kids like to build shapes that aren't on the cards as well so it challenges their creativity. It was a worthwhile purchase.

I really love this product. My 2 1/2 year old is very entertained by this toy, and it is something that will grow with her since the cards get more and more difficult. The only thing is that it is a little difficult for her to manipulate the pieces and keep them from moving around when she is building the picture. I have to hold them in place while she puts the subsequent pieces in the picture. However, at the same time, this is good for her fine motor skill development, and I love what she is learning about spatial awareness. Also, it would be nice if the cards were made of plastic rather than paper since she can wrinkle or tear them. However, given these minor changes, I would strongly recommend this product.

My daughter actually loves the house and people in the storage tray and dumps out the shapes and puts them back together over and over! The shapes are perfect for her little hands and she's also been working through (at least the first 10) cards without a problem. I love that the cards involve manipulation of all the pictured shapes into one object, developing spatial skills is such an important concept....I forsee many years of fun with these mighty mind products!

We love love love this toy/game! I admit,I was put off by the whole "makes kids smarter" stuff. I am no pushy parent. I want my child to have fun while learning. I am glad I looked past all of that and purchased this product. I basically showed her how it works and then walked away. She worked and worked, even doing one I couldn't do and she is four! Mighty Mind is a product that helps children, (and parents too!) practice how to think, not what to think. I'll be giving this as a gift over and over.

My daughter sat for a long time playing with this item and was fully engaged. She had some difficulty using the given pieces to make the required shape, however I feel some of this is due to age. She tried very hard and stuck with it. While playing she was very happy and "chatty." I loved it because we were able to discuss shape and color. I liked that it gave her a great "mental workout" and helped to develop fine motor skills. My only complaint is that the colored pieces are made in China. I would give this product 5 stars if they were able to manufacture the pieces in the United States.

I went through them with him a couple of times, and now he can do all of the exercises by himself. And he does them over and over. It's a wonderful study in spatial relationships. Well worth the money!

We ordered this toy for raining days and have been surprised how much both our 3 and 5 year olds have taken to it. I highly recommend this learning toy to children in this age range. I would love it if the toy came with more pieces so that the children do not have to wait for the other to be done with the cards.

My son received this for his 4th birthday. We have played it once thus far and he was able to work the first 15 cards without even thinking. Next time we pLay, we will get into the second half of the cards. I really like Mighty Mind, but I am not sure that it is challenging enough for the 3 to 8 year age group.

I bought the more advanced edition for my four year old a year ago, by mistake, and she struggled with the more difficult cards, so I purchased the regular edition. The concept of this toy is brilliant and she loves filling the pictures with the appropriate shapes. The regular edition trains children to see how a picture can be broken down into disparate shapes with simple structures, in the first cards. Then calls on that training in the more complicated pictures. The cards are small, however and it's easy to knock the shapes off of them.

My 7 year old son loved the toy. He solved the sequence in two sittings. This set of puzzles is great for building spatial skills. I think the best age span (for hours of playing) is 3-6 years old for this toy.

Very happy with MightyMinds. It teaches the kids (and the parents) to decompose the complicated shapes into basic ones.

Great game! My 3 year old son loves it. The first cards are easy, but they do get more challenging. My sons like to make different shapes with the pieces.

Great concept and good quality. However, the pieces are a little difficult for my son to pick up out of the plastic holder.

My three year old enjoys filling in the shades with the tile pieces. It's really amazing to see the little hands at work. She observed me complete a few pictures, as most children at that age are visual learners. Once she understood, "I do it, I do it." And she did it. We went through the easy cards pretty quickly. And the challenging cards are completely one day at a time. An inexpensive, educational tool that will please any little one.

I had received this as a gift for my own children and chose to buy it for my nephew. It is a great "quiet time" play toy. The most positive feature I saw was that I got my children going following the patterns on the card. They got going on seeing what they could create on their own. Also some of them are challenging so it holds my interest as well to sit and work on them with my kids.
