Like so many others, my daughter wanted an American Girl doll, but that was far out of our price range. But we weren't too sure about the store brands either. This seemed to be a happy medium price wise and the quality is wonderful. This is meant to be played with, not a typical Madame Alexander collector doll. It is well made, the hair is holding up well, and it is very snuggly! A wonderful option
