Perfect Companion Set

I bought this to go with the Melissa and Doug Easel I purchased - it was nice to not have to buy all the items individually. Everything you need for the easel is in this box. Two things: 1) Buy an extra set of markers - this only comes with one blue one and if your child is like mine, they'll inevitably leave the cap off and it'll dry out so a back up set is good - not to mention you also get more color variety with the set M&D offers separately. 2) Although the paints are supposedly washable...you really need to wash them out immediately. I didn't and just threw my shirt in the wash...it came out with green paint still on it. However, when we pre-soaked other paint splattered clothing in oxyclean or zout, the paint came out. Otherwise, my daughter is loving everything in the set and the easel - I'd highly recommend it!

I'm so glad I got the companion set to go with the art easel. It is so helpful to get it all together. Very impressed with amount of paper on the roll. My children love it!

The Easel Companion Set was a great buy. The paint is great quality and the cups and brushes are perfect for less mess. My toddler loves to paint, but when she can't paint the chalk keeps her busy.

Melissa and Doug Easel Companion Set

The chalk is a bit thin (if it falls on the floor it breaks), the paint colors are limited to four, the dry erase marker dried out right away. That said, my children have learned to mix paint colors to expand their palette and they are content (for now) writing with chalk pieces. We did, however, purchase additional dry erase markers. The paint containers and brushes are worth the purchase of this product. Amazingly spill proof, easy to clean, and the paint stays fresh from one day to the next without having to refill the paint pots.

This is the second time I have ordered this product for my granddaughter. I bought it last year along with the easel for her birthday. She really loves the easel and had used up all of the paint and chalk. So she asked for the companion set again for her birthday this year. This set has all the art items necessary to use the easel fully, including paper. My granddaughter was 3 years old when she first received this companion set with her easel and has so much fun making beautiful pictures for everyone. It is a must as a companion to the easel. Highly recommended!

This kit contains almost all you need for an easel. The only thing I would add is a pack of little cups for mixing colors. The paint really is washable, and the chalk is great quality.

Excellent. Melissa and Doug brands are truly child friendly and spot on for usability. The set is wonderful in primary colors that match the easel and my son has already enjoyed the paints and chalk. The only possible complaint is that the dry erase marker does not seem to hold up very well to use by a four and two year old - the pen tip is already jammed into the marker.

This kit is a great price for the items included. I primarily bought it for the paint cups. The only problem I've had with it is that the dry erase marker that came with the set does not erase from the white board. I had to really scrub it clean. Expo markers erase easily though, so I just threw the marker from this kit away.

It is a good mix of supplies that come with the easel as a gift I had to wrap for 'grandma'. It saved me a trip to the store, but there are many more items you can get at a store.

Each component of the easel set is very functional for my 3 year old's skill level--the chalk is triangular, the paint cups are no-spill, and the dry erase marker's cap clicks on without too much effort. I did separately purchase the paint brushes with big, round handles, since this set came with the small ones, but she seems to like both kinds equally. I would also recommend purchasing (or making) a smock and spill mat to put underneath the easel.

Get this to go along with the easel

I bought the easel and decided to go ahead and get this boxed set to go along with it. This set (paints, paint brushes, paint cups, eraser, chalks, paper roll) really did complete the easel. You DO NOT get any art materials with the easel. For me it was the convenience of getting it all at once. You could go shopping around and probably get the accessories to the easel a little cheaper but for me it was convenience and I knew it was going to be good quality. I love the spill proof paint containers. My daughter is old enough to handle paint without spilling...but we have 2 dogs that like to get into everything.

Everything the mini-Picasso needs to get started with their M&D Easel. The nicest part of it all...It actually comes with easel paper! You don't know how fast a couple of 3 year olds can go through easel paper and having the back up roll for Christmas morning was a life saver.

The easel companion set is a good deal. I bought it for my 3 year old daughter who loves arts and paining a lot. After searching for this, i found it in Amazon sold through Fat brain toys. We like the set for its exceptional quality of the materials used. However, the paint containers could have been little smaller as no one will use that big container to fill the paints.

We love all Melissa and Doug products! My only suggestion would be to include a variety of sizes with the paintbrushes. I bought this for my granddaughter to go with the Melissa and Doug easel. The jumbo brushes would be easier for her to handle. Good value packaged all together, to purchase each item individually would have cost more.

This is a wonderful addition to the easel that we got for our son. He absolutely loves everything that was in the box. His eyes just lit up. It was perfect for his age group. He is just turning four, and he really can understand what everything was used for inside. The brightly colored items are good for more than just their intended purposes. It is good just to reinforce kids learning colors too!

This is an essential purchase if you are purchasing the Doug and Melissa Easel. I love the little cups that allow for the brushes to be inserted, minimized the mess and clean up. I think this companion set couldn't be more comprehensive; it gets our little artist off to a great start.

This product is good, and my kids are enjoying it, although I was a little puzzled by the fact that the chalks and paints were unlabeled when I opened the box -- contrary to what the picture on the outside suggested (i.e. the paint bottles and the chalk box were completely unmarked) -- it made me a little concerned about the authenticity of the product.

We bought this set to accompany the Melissa and Doug easel and LOVE the product! There is plenty of paint and we expect it to last quite a while. The chalk is a big hit as well. My daughter has been playing with her easel non-stop since it arrived over a week ago. She is our new little artist and whenever she feels inspired, she runs over to draw, paint or play with the chalkboard.

This product is AWESOME. My daughter is very active, and I love getting her new things to help her develope. This product is a wonderful fun way to help your child(ren) learn their colors and explore their creative side. She loves mixing he paint colors, and the feel of paint between her fingers. I've already recommended this product to my sister for her daughter; though she's not old enough for it yet, it is definitely worth the investment in a child's development.

Our daughter is two and a half and loves her new easel with starter kit. We got the starter kit from Fat Brain Toys which offered the lowest price we could find. It had everything we needed for our daughter to get started on her art work right away -- a large roll of paper, paints and brushes, chalk and eraser, and more. The paint cups are called "spill proof", and they truly are. Everything is very easy to wash and keep clean. The tubs of paint last a long time and can be bought separately as well, as can rolls of paper, more paint cups and brushes, and more paint colors. We highly recommend this kit to anyone who has bought the easel.

I bought this as a gift for a 2 year old and he just loves it. He has been able to use the magnets and chalk board. Instead of another electronic toy, the easel (another brand) and this easel companion set was the hit of his party. Definitely a good buy.

This set has several components for using the associated easel. There is a single, blue dry erase marker. My daughter had trouble replacing the cap and quickly pushed most of the marker tip up into the marker. The marker board does not erase cleanly, but leaves a faint mark even when erased immediately. The paints, color coded to match the other colors of the easel, are blue, red, green and yellow. They can be mixed for other colors, but there are only 4 cups for the paint included. There are about 10 sticks of chalk with a nice color variety. There is also a roll of paper that feeds over the marker board for drawing or painting. The edges of the board remain exposed, so it is easy to get paint off the paper and onto the marker board.

I bought this to use with the Deluxe Easel. Love that the paint containers have covers to prevent leftover paint from drying. Would be good if the containers allow the covers to close with the paint brush in it as an option.
Set has a whiteboard eraser but seems to be missing a blackboard duster though...

I was very with my purchase from Fat Brain Toys. It was even better than I expected. It is for my grandchildren’s art center and they have not seen the supplies, but, I know they will be surprised. I especially wanted the no spill paint containers for their easel, but all of the other supplies came with the kit, so, it is perfect. It also arrived in just two day. That was a surprise too. Perfect set to endless creativity for my kids. The paint cups fit perfectly into the easel and I love the drip catching lids. Worked better for my 6 yr old and not so intuitive for my almost 4 yr old. The dry erase markers haven't been used as much but one of the markers had a tip that sunk into the marker and I had to toss it. Lots of paper! Wish it was maybe 2-3 inches longer.

great add-on for the easel. just the perfect amount of everything. i went ahead and got some additional large paintbrushes because i thought the ones included were a little small, but i bought if for a 3 year-old so larger brushes made more sense.

The Easel Companion Set really made the easel complete and ready for my daughter to use. The chalk is great. The paints are of a good size. The containers for the paint are wonderful. I wasn't sure about getting it. I thought I could buy the items separately. This was a great product. I'm so glad I bought it.

I gave this to my two year old daughter for Christmas along with the Melissa and Doug Easel. She absolutely loves it. We have so much fun painting and drawing pictures with the chalk. The paint containers really make it easy and keeps it clean when we paint. The only negative thing about this set is that the chalk is really thin so it breaks really easy. I think the first day two of them had broke. However, the colors are great and we are still having fun four months later. I would recommend this product to my friends.

All in all, it's what I expected. I thought there would be more than one dry erase marker, but there was only one, and that broke rather quickly. My 3 1/2 year old smashed the tip off the first day of use. Other than that, it was nice to not have to cobble together all items needed for a new easel set.
