I was so happy to find that I didn't have to put it together myself. My three year old nephew was thrilled with it and plays with it every day. I wish that it came with more accessories, i.e., kings, queens, knights, horses, villagers, etc.

Very nice item. What I expect from Melissia & Doug toys. Purchased castle for 4 year old grandson and 2 year old brother for play with knights, pirates and super heroes. Big success!

The castle is beautiful and well constructed. It has held up well so far in my house of three boys. I love to watch them use their imagination with this castle. It is also sturdy enough that my one year old daughter tries to get in on the action(standing holding on to the walls)

Castle
Posted 3/11/2010 by Tony

Rating:

This is a sweet castle. Pretty lightweight for how sturdy it is. With a cool trapdoor and a drawstring gate. It's got good opening value too, son was thrilled. He plays with it with all kinds of other toys on a semi-daily basis. Excellent toy.

Great castle

I bought this for my 5 1/2 year old son for Christmas. He loves castles and knights. This was a big hit, and he and his sister play with it alot. It's not overly large, and his Playmobil knights are the best size for it, but he also uses the Schleich knights. His only complaint was that the dungeon wasn't dark enough:)

LOVE THIS CASTLE!!!
Posted 9/24/2009 by shanna fehrs

Rating:

The castle is beautiful, big, sturdy, and just perfect for all ages. My little girls love it as well as my 7 year old son we bought it for. We love that it unfolds so that you can easily play inside the castle. it has a few neat features that weren't mentioned in the ad so that was nice. Mainly, we love that you can play with it like a kid would and it's not falling to peices like other castles we have owned. We are excited to have this, and it's exactly, if not more, than what we expected.

Fit for a King!!

We love this castle! It is very well made and at a much more affordable price than others that are nowhere near as extravagant! The fold-out part is the best. It gives my son the chance to not only play outside the castle, but to go inside and eat a royal dinner or stroll in the courtyard with his pet dragon!! Best purchase I have made in a long time!! Thanks a lot!!

We were thrilled to find a great quality castle that didn't have skulls or other dark, dungeony features to it. This will be a gift for our 2 & 3-year-old sons, and we can't wait to see their faces light up!

Awesome Folding Medieval Castle

This was a gift for my two sons - just think of it as a barbie playhouse for boys although little princesses out there would love it too. My boys are just getting into pretend play and it is fun to watch them and my hubby playing king, knight and distressed princess. I would highly recommend - excellent quality.

big hit!

I ordered the castle for my son's 4th birthday, along with various dragons and knights, and, of course, a wizard. It has given him many hours of play with and without playmates! Our 17 years old son has been joining the fun and there has been some great bonding time - away from the video games. I highly recommend it. My next purchase is a princess so we can include the girlie cousins!

Perfect birthday gift for 4 year old boy. Sturdy and lots of permutations to the structure. The drawbridge and trapdoor create hours of entertainment. I also bought the figurines. They are well made too and conjure up a world of imagination.

There is a warp in the wood on one side, otherwise the toy is fantastic! It was the only fold open castle I found which is why I bought it.

Better than I thought

I expected this to be not wonderful because of the brand and because of the relatively low price. I had been shopping for custom-made castles which were upwards of $200. This is perfect in size and has lots of little nooks and interesting places. Because it's M&D it may not last as long as the custom-built one would have but it's a lot better than I thought it would be.

Excellent castle, I have many children play with the castle. The only problem is the draw bridge the string gets caught and the trap door breaks very quickly. Other then that the toy is wonderful and the children love it.

Imagination stimulation, versatile
Posted 10/21/2009 by Patricia M Barbeau

Rating:

We were looking for a castle that would integrate with many things, be durable and allow for imaginative play..not with lights, sounds etc. This one fits the bill beatifully and is of the high quality that we have seen with Melissa and Doug products.

Great Castle
Posted 10/21/2009 by Janice Maggio

Rating:

This is a great toy --and great for parents, because there is no assembly required (especially after the last toy we bought required 2 adults 3 hours to put together!). Very well-made and this vendor offered a great price compared to stores and other on-line retailers.

We were really pleased (as was our son) when we opened this castle, for his 4th birthday gift. We love the wood, natural look, and intricate paintings....it looks nice displayed on his dresser (which is a good thing...b/c it's large and we don't have much space for it elsewhere). Can foresee many years of creative play for him and for our daughter who is almost two. Have already had dragons befriending knights, to fight off enemies in the dark, misty forest (couch) beyond. Playmobile-sized figures work well with this castle.

Folding Medieval Castle
Posted 4/28/2008 by Susan Greco

Rating:

My granddaughter had seen this castle in a local store's window and immediately fell in love with it. This is her third castle, but the first one that is being kept at Grandma's house. She loves it! The design of the castle (folding) is wonderful. It enables her to move around and see all aspects of the "life" within the castle. She has "a village" of princesses, princes, knights, dragons, etc... It allows her to create stories within her castle. And when she leaves Grandma's house, it's compact enough to fold up and store in a corner of her room. Great!
