Motivating Toy

I am an early intervention speech pathologist who serves children with multiple needs. I am always looking for toys with which I can transfer the language skills to daily life. This fits the bill perfectly!! As a side benefit there is some motor skills practice and processing in knowing how to release the icecream onto the cone.
I plan on using this toy at a retreat for families of children with Autism Spectrum disorders and will pair it with the old chant " I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!!" After playing the created game, we will finish off with the real thing for each family!! I had to buy two, as my granddaughter is turning two and I can't wait to give it to her. She and her 6 year old brother will have a lot of fun with this toy. I only wish that it came with a nice lid for storage.

My two and a half year old daughter loves this toy. She plays with it often and it has stood up to being abused terribly very well. I highly recommend it especially for kids who adore ice cream like my lil' one, now she gets to be the one giving it out!

Our two year old saw this in the store and insisted on having it. We immediately assumed she'd lose interest or lose parts; however, she plays with it constantly, it has its own box for storage, and the magnetized pieces make it great fun for her!

I purchased this item as a gift for my niece as a Christmas gift. The reason I selected this item was I have seen this product in use. I was substitute teaching in a kindergarten class and saw what a popular toy it was during free choice center time. Both boys and girls alike were building ice cream cones and pretending at the kitchen center. I know that my niece and her brother will have fun pretending also.

my 2 year-old twin girls love this toy. one of them holds on to her ice cream cone even while playing with other toys. it's simple, well-constructed and fun. it really stimulates them to pretend play with each other, and the adults around them too. the best part is that it comes with 2 cones and 2 scoops. so they can easily share it!

This toy really was fun for my 3 year old niece. I liked the way she could make a 1, 2, or 3 scoop cone. She loved playing ice cream parlor and it complements the other pretend kitchen items she already owns.

My daughter loves her ice cream set. She is 3 and her favorite dessert is ice cream. The pieces are durable and they are easy use. The ice creams stack nicely on the cones and on top of one another and do not fall off so quickly. They are realistic-looking and are realistic in size. The packaging is great because it's easy for my daughter to access the pieces and organized well that she can clean up easily.

My 6 year old son has had a wonderful time serving up ice cream for the entire family. He got this set on Christmas morning and took it with him to all the celebrations for the day. He especially had fun sharing it with his 3 year old cousin. Having two scoops makes it easy to share and he box makes it easy to store too. The set is extremely durable and with the magnets in cones, ice cream and scoops, it is easy to stack the 'flavors' up.

My daughter asked for only this for Christmas, and it was a big hit! She has been pushing it around the house, insisting on serving all who come ice cream. It is well made, stays together magnetically, and it just what she wanted. Recommended.

My daughter loves this ice cream set. The whole system is magnetic but the magnets are protected so pose no safety risk when in use, which is important as we have a younger child and a dog as well. We also love the box as it provides for easy to put away storage that is based on her being able to put her own things away. The only thing missing is a top or a sliding top to make the box more of a case and thus easier to store and take out without spilling.

The Ice Cream set is well-made and visually attractive. My 4 and 2 year olds enjoy it, but it is somewhat limited in terms of time willing to be spent playing with it. It may be a little too simple to expect hours and hours, but for what it is, it is pretty cool.

My kids love the Melissa and Doug toys. They are very well made and hold us to lots of playing and use. My 5 year old and 2 year old both love playing with this ice cream set and pretending to serve each other. It is great when I can find toys like this that they both enjoy.

This is one of the best additions to our "upstairs kitchen"! Both my of my girls (4 and 6) highly enjoy this product and play with it in a variety of ways. The fact that it is magnetic so that they can scoop and stack scoops on the cone adds a dimension of reality that you come to expect from Melissa & Doug products. I'd purchase this again for any youngster!

This is a really unique toy set. I have 5 kids ages 5-12y. When we received the box, my five year old opened it. It is contained in a really nice red and white wooden box that will hold up to some really intense ice cream scooping!
When all of the kids saw the set, they came up with a whole store/ice cream shop game and this set sparked their collective imagination!
They played for the whole afternoon, all five of them, taking orders and scooping up fun.
The toy is very clever and the use of magnets makes this a fascinating science lesson.
I highly recommend this toy and will be checking out the other Melissa and Doug product!

The gift was for my 2 year olds birthday. Not olnly did she love it but her brothers 7 and 9 play with it everyday. They love making different combinations of ice cream cones and get the cash register involved too. Love it so much I'm giving it for a bday gift to a neighbor.

My granddaughters, ages 2,4, 5, and 7, all were fascinated with scooping up the ice cream and serving it on the cones. They enjoyed testing out their skills individually, and as a group they had a blast playing ice cream store. They have been playing with it all week.

I have 4 year old twins (boy & girl). They both love this set. The magnetic ice cream scoops, cones and scoopers are great! Great quality, unlike plastic food that does not last. I also have the Sandwich Making Set. The kids enjoy them so much I recently ordered the Pizza Party Set and Birthday Cake.
