I just purchased this product for my son who turned two. He really likes sticker books, but the problem is that the paper stickers may only be applied and re-applied so many times before they disintegrate. That's where this toy comes in! He enjoys playing with it and moving the animal pieces around. The animals are colorful and friendly-looking in each set.
It is wonderful that there are three different "habitats." That's a great design feature. My son seems to be able to easily intuit that ocean creatures go with the ocean and that farm animals go on the farm, etc.
However, one criticism I have with the toy's design is a little more subtle: it comes with one magnetized surface, framed in nice wood (typical quality from Melissa & Doug toys). Each background habitat is not magnetic itself; rather, each background is to be slotted in underneath the wooden "frame." This is a great design feature; however, when more than one background is inserted behind the frame (and it is designed to hold all three--which is handy) the pieces are no longer capable of sticking to the magnetic surface. I would like to see a design where the pieces would all stick so the unused scenes could be put tidily away. Less distraction for the player and less clutter for mom & dad.

Habitats Set Is A Hit!

The carry case is handy. The toy is very fun for the kids. They love putting the animals into their habitats. I would suggest laminating the scenes (habitat) so they last forever, like the rest of the toy will!

My daughter (who just turned two) received this as a gift and she absolutely loves it. The set includes a lot of magnets that are pretty strong and have no trouble staying put. My only minor complaint is that the scenes are on paper and I'm concerned that they won't be as durable as I would have liked. Another poster recommended laminating them which I intend on doing.

The magnets and habitat cards are of excellent quality and very durable. The colors are bright & vivid. This is a quality product that is enjoyed by several of the children.

wonderful high quality toy. Made nice and sturdy with smooth round edges. Gives children a chance to learn about different animals and how they live. Would highly recommend this toy. Kids love it!

Magnetic habitats

I think this would be a better product if each board was on its own magnetic backing. The paper scene pieces bend easy and are difficult to place inside the magnetic frame. Not all of the magnetic animal pieces stick to the board real well. Fun and bright colors.

Great toy for travel or home

Good creative toy. Right now, my son loves pulling out animals while we name them, then placing them on the scene. Later, he'll be able to do more creative play. Love the case that you store it in - it is durable and easy to carry. Only wish the magnet was a little stronger.

Our 18 month old daughter loves this toy. And we have found it to be a perfect toy to take with us on long car rides. She can stay in her car seat and be entertained without losing pieces all over the seats. It also has been fun to name different animals and settings.

I purchased this for my precocious 2 year old to keep him entertained on a long car trip. He was immediately delighted with the animal magnets. They all turned out to be friends, despite some predator-prey relationships. Some of the pieces are a bit small and can get lost, but the nice chuncky zipper pocket helps keep them together. Wish the background scenes weren't paper (glossy card stock, but still tear-able).

My 2 yr old son loved getting this for Christmas. He plays with it all the time. I wish the paper scenes were laminated like others have suggested so when he is putting them in and out of the frame they wouldn't get bent but they still hold up. It has been a fun thing for him to work on.

Sorry, I can't review yet. I purchased these toys for my grandson for Christmas....I know, far away, but I get a jump on things when I see them. I already know your products to be of excellent quality and I also know he will have ours and hours of fun times with them!
