Better than one would expect. They make opposites very obvious and easy to remember.

Opposites Puzzle Cards

I bought this puzzle for my 4yr old autistic daughter because she loves playing with puzzles and I thought this would be just the thing for her to learn opposites. Among her other toys, this box has become one of her favorites to play with. There are plenty of combinations so it keeps us busy for a while. I pull out a few combinations at a time and once she's figured them out she quickly reaches for more. When all the puzzles are pieced back together and laid out in front of her, I ask her to find each combination and one by one she puts them back in the box, ready for the next time that we'll play with them. My only wish is that these pictures were more animated or more colorful for younger children. To me they are boring to look at, but my daughter does not seem to mind.

I have purchased many Melissa and Doug products and these are as good as any of them. I have now bought the opposites puzzles and the alphabet puzzles. They each come in a lovely little wooden box with a slide cover. They are nice, thick cardboard pieces. And the illustrations are sweet. They depict the concepts (rough/smooth, soft/ hard) clearly. The child can understand by the illustration what he is SUPPOSED to be learning. The alphabet cards are good because they show the upper-case and lower-case letters immediately next to each other, which I needed for my son so he could practice his lower-case letters. The pieces are all nice simple shapes, age appropriate in difficulty. The only "negative" I have is that the puzzles could be a bit larger. Overall, a great FUN learning tool for kids.

Love the puzzle.. The wood box it comes in needs to be a little bigger. The puzzle pieces only fit in it if they are all matched and placed in the box in a certain way. Not convenient for kids during clean up. Frustrating to them why clean up is that tedious. Other than the small box, the puzzle is great. The pieces are durable and the pictures are bright and colorful.

The pictures are clear and the matching pieces go together easily. This puzzle is good for small hands.

They are a great activity for my son. He first tries to put the puzzle pieces together, and then we review what is on the flashcard.
