This chest is made of well quality wood. It is a very durable treasure chest, I purchased it for my 4 yr. old son. It has lasted very well.

I gave this Pirate Chest as a gift and he loved it! It is very sturdy and provided hours of fun. They hid the coins and went on a treasure hunt to find them. I would definately recommend this toy.

My stepson is 9 and he received this for a gift at Christmas time. He really likes it with loving Pirates of the Caribbean. I have a 1/2 brother who will be 7 and he now is also into pirates, so I wanted him to have this as a gift. The chest is wooden and very durable.

Great product! Purchased it for my son's 7th Birthday and he was was so shocked and excited to have a "real pirate treasure chest". His Bday theme was a Pirate Party so it was the perfect gift. Would highly recommend this product to others.

Quality product, well constructed. Detail on skull lock with gemstone eyes is very good. The product is made by Melissa and Doug which I find is consistently excellent. We did purchase additional loot, as the amount is inadequate to fill the chest. The Pirate flag and eye patch are well made. All in all an excellent product. A must have for any child.

My 4 yr old child loves the pirate chest and it works great when he pretends he is looking for treasure. Our 1st one held up for 2 years but my 20 month old decided to sit on it like a chair and broke it, so we got a new one for my son because he loved playing pretend with it. Now we keep it up away from my youngest until she is older to play with it too.

I ordered 32 of these treasure chests for an incentive trip to the Grand Cayman Islands. Everyone loved them. They couldn't have worked out better! I especially liked the trap door at the bottom of the chest, where I stored some "hidden treasure" for our incentive trip winners. Children would love this chest for their own treasure. Most of the people who received this gift gave it to their kids.

My 5 year old daughter loves this pirate chest. It's made of wood so it doesn't have that cheapy plastic feel. It's a perfect size for her to store her "loot" in. She loves the secret compartment in the bottom. What would make this perfect is if it had some fake gems/jewelry (but I was able to purchase them separately). I think the coins would be more appealing if they were shiny. Overall, it's a very nice product. I would buy it again.

My son is into pirates, so he loves it! We had to hang the Jolly Roger flag over his bed so he could pretend it was a pirate ship. Of course he thinks the secret compartment in the chest is really cool, too. Great toy, great price.

The chest is well constructed and my son loves it. I bought it for his third birthday because he loves “Jake and the Wonderland Pirates.” He is younger than the recommended age, but he has had no problems with lugging it up and down our play system and hiding it from Captain Hook. Over the past three days we have had non-stop adventures. He loved the gold doubloons. The chest has a false bottom and an easy-to-use locking mechanism. I am guessing the older age recommendation it to prevent fingers from getting pinched. I will definitely buy this toy for my nephews. It really sparks adventure and brings a level of fun that cannot be replicated by more complicated toys.

Bought for a treasure hunt for our four year old. He absolutely loves it and cannot quit saying thank you. Made of wood and pretty sturdy. I can see the hinges might be a little weak and I wish the inside hidden compartment closed a little more snugly. Overall though it is very cute and well worth the money! My son plays with it daily, hiding it and drawing treasure maps to find it! The gold doubloons inside were also a huge hit.

We actuall "bury" the treasure chest and make a pirate hunt out of the adventure on the beach! Stumbled uopn the exact same treasure chest here at the beach after having ordered yours. It was $19.95 and I would have had no mailing charges. Found that interesting....

My 2 1/2 year old is currently very interested in pirates. He will be a pirate for Halloween this year and really wanted a treasure chest. I think it is adorable. We also purchased two other items (compass and light) to include in his chest.

I like the way the pirate chest looks and feels like a pirate chest. I bought two of these, one for each of my kids. We will take them to the beach, bury them in the sand and have the kids "discover" them while digging for pirate treasure. They don't know about this, but i think they will love these little pirate chests with treasures inside and will have a lot of fun pretending they are pirates.

Loved them - I ordered two! Made well, the kids will love them. The only thing I didn't care for was the coins are plastic - everything else is great. We are using them for a treasure hunt!

This past summer we gave this to one of our grandsons and he loved it. Another one of our grandsons loved playing with the Pirate Chest at his cousins so we ordered him one. I think for the price it could have a few more items in the chest. Other than that, it is quite adorable.

My 2 year old loves treasure chests from Dora and other toys. He thinks it's really neat with the swiveling lock. But really, I think he's a little too young for the dress up part of this. I, on the other hand, think it's totally cool and wish I was 7 again so I was allowed to play with it full time! The chest itself is very well made and has an authentically distressed look. All of the items inside are well made and fun. Highly recommended for your little pirate! I think we'll be using this toy for a long time.

I ordered the Pirate Chest for my sons 4th birthday. It is very sturdy but lightweight so it is easy for him to carry around. I couldn't have asked for anything better.

At first I thought the chest was too small, but it's just the right size for my 4 year old to load up and carry around. I love the soft pirate patch. And the jolly roger flag now adorns his room. It's a good value for your little matey!

Excellent idea. The extras with the chest are great. i.e. bandana, eyepatch, gold coins and bag. My particular chest had one bottom slat that was warped but the secret compartment is an excellent place to hide additional treasure. I mixed some dollar coins in with the gold coins for an extra treat.

Pirate Chest is excellent in look and feel. I bought it to take to the beach and surprise my 3 year old, who was very excited to find a real pirate chest in the sand. The only note about the product is the coins could have been a heavier metal feel instead of light plastic. (The Dread Pirate board game has some very nice coins.) But other than that the chest and contents were great.

I was looking for a pirate chest to use it for my 9 year old son's birthday party. Since we are currently living oversears where I could not find any birthday party theme items, I decided to look for a chest while I was back in the U.S. for the home leave. This pirate chest was perfect size and not too heavy to bring it back in my suitcase, not to mention that it was just what I was looking for. I am so excited about this chest and cannot wait to see my son's happy face when he sees this!

My 6 year old loved it. The eye patch and bandana were a big hit. The Chest was surprisingly sturdy. My 4 year old was disappointed there was no "looking glass". The Gold coins was a nice touch. The secret compartment is fun too. It was money well spent!

This treasure chest was a huge hit with our 4 year old son. He loves to tie on the bandana and wear the eye patch while he searches for treasure. This box is especially cool because it has a special skull latch that prevents his little sister from pillaging the loot! Also, there is a secret compartment under a false bottom... Melissa and Doug have done a great job at capturing a child's imagination with this set. It immediately became a special favorite. My son would sleep with it if we let him.

We bought 2 pirate chests for our 10 and 13 year old boys. The boys love the chests - real wood, skull clasp, eye patch, secret compartment, and a pouch full of "gold" coins. We had fun watching them have fun. It was exactly what we were looking for.

I expected something more (more items perhaps a pirate sword, hat, etc.) for the price. My grandson (5 yrs. old) did love the hidden compartment in the pirate chest. He's "into" pirates so he had fun with it.
