A Good Toy
Posted 8/21/2006 by Robert Madsen

Rating:

This toy is basically a simple puzzle with a couple of extra features. The magnetic pieces mean that you can use it on any metal surface as well as the plate in the box. Second, the design of the pieces is provocative, the sort of thing that will stimulate lots of discussion between adults and kids. To me, that is the key feature. If you want a toy that will give you opportunity to talk about space and everything in it, a toy for reasonably young kids, this will not disappoint.

Product review of Magnetic Space Puzzle

The puzzle was a hit with my son. He loves anything that has to do with space and he loves puzzles! I liked the magnet board, but I did find that the plastic border for the magnet board comes off very easily. We had it for a few days now and the corners and the sides have all come off at some point. All I have to do is push it back in, but it's pretty annoying to do. I'm thinking of krazy gluing it or something. That's why it got 4 stars out of 5. Overall, a good toy! Oh, and the poster is not "huge" as advertised! A decent size, but not huge.

Magnetic Space Puzzle is Awesome

My son loves this puzzle. He likes anything that has to do with the planets right now. The cool thing is that we can put the mangetic planets on the fridge too.

Review for Magnetic Space Puzzle
Posted 1/19/2006 by Tracie Newkirk

My 4 yr old son loves planets and it's real hard to find age appropriate toys. He sure enjoys the magnetic puzzle. Mostly because they stick on the fridge door. A definite hit. Thank you.

I bought this for my son who is turning 4. He is fascinated by the planets and the solar system. This puzzle doubles as a toy because it is magnetic. He can put the planets in order on the refrigerator in addition to using it as a puzzle. The planets are pictures as opposed to drawings (which are not always accurate), unlike other puzzles I have seen. The name of each planet (or part of the puzzle) is written where it belongs so the child can learn to read/spell them as well. An educational and fun toy.

I was disappointed. From the description I expected something more interactive . . . this is just a traditional puzzle. Also the description implies that the child can learn more about the solar system. My four-year old nephew knows the planets in order from the sun but the puzzle does nothing to demonstrate (or even imply) the distance relationships. It also doesn't give very good indications of the relative size of the various planets. An explanation of the nebula would have been helpful -- that was unfamiliar to my nephew.

Loved it

Groups of four and five year olds are enjoying this puzzle very much. I bought it in anticipation of a unit on space in January, but they couldn't wait to play with it...
