Like Finding A Long Lost Friend

My parents gave me a Mr. Machine in the early sixties. This one toy helped me discover my mechanical aptitude along with an ability to build/fix just about anything. For some years now I've been checking the various auction sites looking for an original one of these dudes in decent shape. Time and time again I was so disappointed in their condition and going price I wouldn't even bid. You can’t imagine how stoked I was to not only find a brand-spanking-new Mr. Machine from the original molds, but at a price that didn’t make me say “You’ve got to be kidding”! Needless to say I am extremely pleased even my parents came over to house just to check him out. Who’d a thunk it!

First the plus, I loved the DVD that was included. It had the original Mr. Machine T.V. ad, and a lot of other ads from that time. It also has a brief history of Mr. Machine. The Downside, the spring wind-up seems to be a little weak, Mr. Machine does not run very long on a full wind... up only about 15-20 seconds. Maybe that's just the one I got.

Words can't describe how happy I am with this toy. I got the original in 1961. I took it apart and never put it back together again since I was only 7. This fulfills a missing link in my childhood.

I remember purchasing this for my brother when he was small for the outrageous price of $7.95. First gift I ever bought solely with my own money. Now, my grandson has one. Love it!

This wasn't the one we were actually anticipating receiving. The one we recall was one that whistled. We bought it to replace one that had burned up in a house fire, but the recipient was happy none the less!

I was given a Mr. Machine in the early 60s and have wanted to replace him for quite some time. When the box arrived from Fat Brain Toys, I was delighted with the instant memories brought back. You just can't explain a toy like Mr. Machine, you have to show him in action!

I have searched for a long while looking for this toy. I remember it from my early childhood... I was born in '57 so I was quite young; however, I remember this as I loved to take it apart and put it together again. I believe that this is in part the reason that mechanical things I have little trouble understanding. Thank you for reproducing this toy in such exact detail. Everyone that has seen it looks at in in wonder as it still has "that" quality. It Never Grows Old. Thank you.

I had one of these Mr. Machines as a child over 40 years ago. It was a real kick to be able to get a "newly" built "original". I am not sure what I will ultimately do with it, beacause my grandkids probably cannot appreciate this kind of toy, but I do.

I bought Mr. Machine for my 5 year old grandson after he heard me describe the Mr. Machine that my brother had owned back in the '60's. The product worked perfectly right out of the box. I was very pleased.

The whole collectors package is nice. I like that they have the copy of the certificate and commercial. I wish it was a remake of the original though from metal, but I guess you can't have it all.

You wait 40 years for a guy...

You wait 40 years for a guy and he just sits there. This is a toy my mom couldn't afford to buy me when I was a kid. I never forgot Mr. Machine - embarrasingly, I can even still sing the television commercial jingle. So when I saw he was once again available, I ordered one. Unfortunately, my Mr. Machine didn't have enough oomph to roll forward on a carpet or even a hardwood floor. The only way he swung his arms and legs and made noises was if you held him up in the air. So back he went to Fat Brain Toys. So much for nostalgia. (Note from Fat Brain Toys: We were so sorry this Mr. Machine was defective. We provided a full refund to Ms. Smiley.)

Induces laughs. Makes everyone want to try it. I always wanted one as a kid (but I didn't have one) - now I've ordered several, so that I can inflict them on nieces and nephews.

Mr. Machine arrived well packaged and on time. It was a big hit and well remembered by my son who recieved one as a gift back in the early 60's.

Would Be Great If It Only Worked Well

This is a great reproduction of the original Mr. Machine (which I owned as a child). It even comes in a reproduction of the original box & packaging. Unfortunately, it had 2 problems: 1) Missing a "nut" on the right shoulder connection. (This was a minor problem, as the units ship with 2 spare "nuts", but it speaks to poor quality control, and immediately reduces you to one spare.) 2) The unit "freezes" in the movement cycle, requiring a manual push to get going again. I have decided to keep the unit anyway, as I have such strong memories of it from my childhood, but am very disappointed that it doesn't work properly. (Note from Fat Brain Toys: It's heartwrenching to get the cold shoulder from a beloved toy that insists on freezing up! We contacted Mr. Keiser and offered him a replacement Mr. Machine or a full refund.)

I had a Mr. Machine when I was little and bought this for my grandsons. It is just as appealing as it was back then, And the service was wonderful. Thanks.

Growing up in the 1960s, I had an original Mr. Machine. It was one of my favorite toys and was instrumental in the development of my fascination with all things mechanical. Except for a few minor revisions to the original, this is an accurate reproduction and I'm very happy that it's now available again for kids of all ages! My only criticism is that the "OFF" switch on the one I recently purchased does not remain in position and, therefore, will not stop the mechanism. Perhaps I can fix it. It does not appear to be broken, just poorly designed or assembled. A shame in a toy costing so much. (Note from Fat Brain Toys: We contacted Mr. Wooden with information on how he might obtain a replacement switch from the manufacturer. Our customers are also offered a full refund on returned products that fail to meet expectations.)
