Nice sturdy construction. The latch for locking door is not real sturdy. We can almost open it without using the combination. If the lock worked better the product would be perfect!

My 10 year old son loves the safe. He likes the alarm that goes off when you open it. It seems to be strong and durable. Great gift.

Safe is Great

Safe is a lot of fun. My 9 year old grandson LOVES it! The door lock seems a little flimsy, and some times it was hard to get shut tight and latch (after only a few times of use) Not sure how well it will hold up, but all in all for the $$ it is a sturdy unit and he was impressed with it. He really liked the secret compartment for hiding his money and the sound it makes when opened. I recommend it!

Very sturdy. Seems impossible to break. Turning dial is a bit difficult for my 5 year old, but my 8 year old has no problem. My children love putting their money in the safe. They also like the alarm that sounds when it is opened.

The alarm is not that at all but a whirring sound as the door opens by itself when the combination is done. That's not bad, however, as the automatic door opener is big hit. Every other bank we've gotten for our 7-year old has either broken or eventually lost the plug that holds the money in. I ordered this because it doesn't have any part that he can lose.

I liked the appearance of the safe. It did not look like a toy, like so many others. The alarm seemed like a good idea to me. My daughter on the other hand, does not like the fact that the alarm goes off every time she opens it!

This safe was an immediate favorite of my 9 year old son. The combination is 2 numbers and he has hidden many treasures inside. He enjoys the alarm that sounds if it is opened incorrectly by his brothers, which is hard to do. Although overall I am pleased with the safe, I think the combo dial could be easier to turn. It gets stuck sometimes and does not rotate smoothly.

These safes are Christmas gifts for my grandchildren. I tested to see if they worked properly and if bell rang when the door was opened. As far as I can tell they do. I purchased a safe like thon one a few years ago and child really enjoys it, so I bought one for his brother and cousin.

Outer casing is a good design, but the combination lock design is kind of low level quality. If not handled roughly, I assume it will last for some years to come.

Large Steel Safe with Alarm
Posted 1/18/2007 by Patricia Braun

Rating:

This Safe is made of high quality metal with no sharp edges. The combination lock is secure. It has a great little pullout tray on the inside. One of the best features is the built-in alarm that sounds when the door is opened. The overall quality of this safe is astounding for a toy.

Very Unhappy!

This safe is complete junk! I did not expect a high performance safe for a child, but I did expect something that functions. I have already purchased a replacement.

I chose this item to give my children something to call their own, and a place to store small cherished items and their well-earned money in their own safe. I was disappointed when I discovered that they only need to turn the dial to the last digit of the 2-digit code and the safe will open. The children figured each others 'code' in the first 24 hours of opening. This defeats the purpose of what it was originally purchased for.

Steel Safe

Rating:

This product is well made and should hold up to children abusing it very well. I am not real fond of the alarm as it goes off whether you use the right combination to open the safe or not. Also the combination lock is not the best set up out there. I do believe the safe is worth the money paid for it. It should hold up for the long haul.

I bought the safe for my son's 9th birthday. It looks good, sturdy and roomy inside. The lock was hard to dial, but seems to be loosening.

Works great! I use this safe as a recognition award, and it's perfect for thanking someone for "keeping us safe and secure." I know my grandsons will also be thrilled when they receive theirs at Christmas. I like the fact that it's mechanical and doesn't require batteries. I like a safe with a combination that can be changed but that requires electronics or a more costly safe. This is the right balance.

Large Steel Safe with Alarm

This product is very hard to operate. The dial was almost impossible to turn. Then it would only open the safe one out of five times. The alarm worked sometimes and then would get stuck. There was also rust in the coin box.
