Review of My First Science Kit

This is a great first science kit for young children. We bought it for my daughter's 5th birthday as she always shows interest in her older brother's science kits. She was excited to get started with it and enjoyed doing the activity. We mixed colors and made the gel crystals. We did talk about what colors would mix to get other colors and the kit provided a nice demonstration of that. It is not the most amazing science kit in the world, but certainly appropriate for little ones. My 8 1/2 year old son enjoyed helping her with it but I would not buy it for children much older than 5.

My son is becoming very interested in science and magic. He tried making slime at a party, but this slime worked much better. The kit is simple so far.

Great Introductory Science Kit For Your Preschooler

This is a pretty basic color mixing kit which teaches your child, not only color mixing, but following instructions/recipes. My 4 year old son loves this kit and we recently ordered a second kit because we had used all of the color tablets and crystals. It is great for the 3-5 year old age group.

Very Disappointed

I was very disappointed. Cheap product with not too many experiments. Quite lame for a 3.5 year old.

I believe the product was excellent for my son's age range. He was interested in all the projects involving color. The crystal experiment was quite fun. I have not yet had the opportunity to finish all the experiments but I have performed them myself in the past. The only problem I had with the kit at all was that the test tube lids leaked. Fortunately, I did the experiments in the kitchen.

The product feels and looks cheaper than I expected. 5-6 year olds need strong toys. If I knew the product made better, I would pay a higher price. Then my 3 year old can play with it later.

My daughter received this as a gift when she was 5 and loved making crystals so much she requested it again at 7 years old. It's fun, easy to use, and keeps her curiosity open to discovery.
