The Lab was for my 8yr old nephew's birthday. He was excited by the different fun things to do and couldn't wait to start. This is a wonderful 'inside' toy. It will require adult help and supervision.

My nephew was so excited to read the book and plan out the secret formulas that he was going to try out. He was especially interested in the rock candy recipe! We were happy to see him so interested in reading and science. :)

Messy! But my grandsons love it. We've spent many hours in the kitchen following the "recipes" for fossils and slime.

My son received the lab as a gift for his birthday and was thrilled. My son is just five so he requires a lot of parental guidance while playing with the toy. I think an older child would be able to do more of the activities by themselves but would still require some help from an adult (this toy is recommend for children 8 and older). The wish the directions explained the science behind the chemical reactions.
