Wow! My son has been struggling with riding a bike with training wheels for a year and now he's riding without them. I never would have thought that my son could be balancing on a bike without training wheels in just 1 day. He loves this bike! The bike is really light weight but with a super sturdy frame. Adjusts to many different heights and assembly is really easy. I would definitely recommend this bike.

Strider bike

I Love the fact that I could find a "Laufrad" as they are called in Germany here in the US. My 3 yr old little girl loves it but she's just walking with it between her legs (we've only had it for two days). I'm sure she'll get the hang of it soon. I love the idea and fully believe that these bikes are better for little learners than one with training wheels. However, I read another review that suggested you can just buy a regular bike and not put the pedals on at first and then just add them later to avoid having to buy another bike (I'm getting a hand me down). And the reason I am not giving 5 stars is that this bike DOES NOT COME WITH BRAKES, or a kickstand. Or lights or a bell for that matter, but the brakes I assumed it'd have. that's apparently and optional product. I feel for the price it should have been included. But we really do like the bike a lot anyway. Great quality, easy assembly.

Strider Bike is Great!

Our son is 2.5 and loves his new Strider! He runs along side our older neighbors and feels like a "big kid". At first we wondered about the steering, it seemed so "stiff". Then we re-read the instructions and realized it was intended to be that way. Within 3 days our son was getting the hang of riding the bike and the bearings were starting to loosen up. He can pick up the bike with one hand and can turn it around and get on and off with ease. We are extemely happy with our purchase.

Nice first bike for new kid
Posted 8/12/2009 by Shawn

Rating:

Pros: Fantastic quality of construction, packaging, and assembly experience. Easy for little ones to figure out all on their own with some encouragement from parents. Cons: Seat post may not be quite tall enough for some young kids. I bought two of these for my little ones who cannot ride a bike yet. One pink for my 5 year old daughter, and one blue for my 4 year old son. My daughter immediately took to it and was able to learn to balance on it very quickly. But the seat post does not quite extend high enough for her, but she still loves it anyhow and so I'll let her keep riding it until she is practiced enough for her first bike. My son initially didn't like it and wanted to ride his little kid big wheel, but after a day at the park and getting him to push it down the sidewalk after his sister he got the hang of it, and now rides it everywhere, even in the house. Because it is blue he decided to wear his blue police play helmet and calls it his police motorcycle and started riding around giving the family tickets. :-) Quality of the toy is fantastic! It is very light weight (I can lift with my pinky finger) so the kids can easily manuver them, the frame feels very durable with nice smooth welds. Tires are soft, but solid rubber so they can't go flat, and also didn't seem to be marking up the floor in the house. The paint job was very nice, with high quality labeling on par with more expensive adult bikes, and the packaging was excellent keeping the unit looking good, and preventing the forks from getting bent during shipping. Assembly was a breeze thanks to a REAL combination wrench rather than some tiny hard to use paper thin wrench that most put-together-yourself products come with. Overall, this product is a great experience, and I highly recommend it.

My 5 yr old daughter has been trying to learn how to ride a bike with training wheels, but only felt secure with three wheels on the ground (by leaning to one side), then I saw a really little kid on something like this and started searching the web for a bike with no pedals. I picked this one because it was the only one that looked like a real bike. My daughter was thrilled! In just a day or two she is already scooting along easily using two feet at a time so that she has some glide time and is not afraid because she knows she can get her feet to the ground to catch herself at any time. It's PERFECT! She'll be riding the real deal in no time at all.

great little bike for small ppl. my son is just 2 and on the short side; this bike is the only one i could find that the seat went as low as 11 inches. he is tearing the neighbourhood apart on it! the steering is a little tight but that's ok for now since i hope it will help him ride in a straight line and i wonder how long the tires will last being foam, other than that we really like it. we've only had it a week but we've been stopped many times asking how we have such a young child on two wheels and where can ppl purchase one.

It seems like a good product. Have used it only once but my daughter complained that it was hurting her on her ankle and I could see marks. It is because of the place where you can install an optional break. That area is sharp and rubs against her ankle. That it deterring her to use the product. It is a little better after we moved the seat higher though.

My son truly enjoys his Strider Running Bike. It's extremely well built and we're very impressed with how light weight it is. The package was missing one plastic protector piece (to cover a screw), but it's not a big deal. After my past experieces with Fat Brain Toys, I'm sure they'd make it up to me, but I haven't worried about it. We are happy that we made this purchase.

i love the bike. i love the idea of the bike. he's had it for 3 days and is already picking his feet up and gliding for short periods of time. i love that it's so lightweight. he can pick up the front end to turn around. my only issue was with the brake option shaft. it cut his ankles with in the first 10 min. my husbad had some kind of molding tape that he put around it and we haven't had a problem since.

My two year old loves it. It's very lightweight, very easy to use, and quite clever. The only downside is that the bottom post of the bike seat is very sharp. We noticed his heels were bleeding and couldn't figure out why until we felt the post. A bit of electrical tape solved that.

Strider running bike

Rating:

This is a great bike for kids too big for a trike but not ready for a big bike. I like that it is metal and not wood. Many running bikes are wooden and can't be washed or left on the yard. This one is also nice and light. Those wooden push bikes are very heavy. This is very sturdy, rolls smoothly and is a well made bike that will be passed down to cousins. It is very adjustable so you can get just the right configuration for your child.

Running Bike

Rating:

This bike has been a lot of fun for my 18 month old twins. It took them about a week to figure out how to push it around, they are still only gliding a little, but they love it! Both my kids were tall enough to reach the ground on the bikes. My only complaint is the handlebars. If your kids drop the bike (which they will) the handlebars rip through ends of the grips. It doesn't hurt anything, but they should have come up with a better design.

Fun learning bike

Great bikes. EZ to put together. Comfortable and fun training bikes for my 3 year old daughter and 4 year old son. They were off and running on these bikes by the 2nd day of use. My son is already asking to take the training wheels off of his "regular bike" after having used the Strider running bike for only a couple of days.

This bike was easy to assemble and easy to use. My 3 year old loves his "two-wheel big boy bike" after riding a tricycle for the last year. So far he has only ridden it up and down our hallway but we hope to take it outdoors this weekend. I love that it is light-weight. I have only one complaint (besides the cost): alignment. The bike seat, handlebars and tires get out of alignment everytime my son tips over, although I've tightened them as much as I was able to.

fantastic bike
Posted 8/16/2008 by Karin

Rating:

We've had this bike for about 1 1/2 weeks, and so far it's been great! It was easy to assemble and easy to adjust the seat and handlebars as needed. My daughter (age 3) really enjoys riding it. A few times she has coasted and lifted up her feet, but mostly she's walking / running on it. I would highly recommend this bike - it's held her interest for much longer lengths of time than her bike with training wheels, and she really likes that it has "only 2 wheels." I also like that it looks like a regular bike more so than the wood versions of the running bikes out there. Overall, I would highly recommend this product.

Cute But Tight Turn
Posted 7/14/2008

Rating:

A cute bike. The handle bars are tight to turn. We tried loosening, but it's the collar that seems a bit tight. It may loosen more with use. There were plastic bits around collar that make me wonder if it's meant to be this way? The bike seems good otherwise.

Strider Running Bike

Rating:

We like the study design and rugged-not-afraid-to-be-left-outside design. After 1-1/2 months, son is still walking it (rather than sitting & pushing) and still picking the front wheel up to change direction. He is 2. The front wheel is stiff to turn, but this may be intentional, until he gets the hang of turning. I've seen a 2 year old boy (with big brothers) doing exactly what is featured in the videos on the Strider website--so we'll keep at it. We appreciate the price of this product, compared to the more expensive competitors.

I gave the Strider bike to an out-of-state grandchild. I was present when it arrived and got to watch him ride it for a few days. The bike seems to be of very good quality and I appreciated the manual which gave information on what to expect the child to do with it for the first few days. So far I am very pleassed with the product. By the way, I was especially pleased with the care that was taken by the manufacturer to have it arrive unscratched. All critical parts were very well protected.

Great idea, my son will grow into it.
Posted 12/27/2009

Rating:

This "bike" is a fantastic idea. My daughter was getting a bike with training wheels for Christmas (she is 4.5), so we got this for my son (almost 2) to eliminate possible arguing. They keep trading back and forth! My son is convinced that his strider is "broken" and that we should "fix it" so it stands up on its own. I think that, between the two "bikes," my kids will quickly learn to balance and pedal. We have only had it for a few days, but the kids like it already. I really think that my son will be coasting alongside my daughter by summer!

We like that the foam tires cannot pop, and the seat is quite padded - unlike the wooden models. So cute! We were only sad that the red (my son's favorite color) version of the bike was about $8 more expensive. We look forward to my 1-year-old getting to try it in about a year.
