We recently had two tornadoes near our home and the experience sparked a lot of interest on the part of my 5 yo dd. When I saw this item I couldn't resist getting it for her! She has had more fun playing with it, carrying it around, and showing it to people. Our other children (and adult family members) can't resist playing with it either. :-) One tip - it is easier to get really good tornadoes if you keep the bottom of the tube on the palm of your hand, a table, or other fairly flat surface while turning the tube in circles. If the bottom doesn't stay pretty flat, the tornadoes are smaller.

My 9-year old granddaughter is interested in severe weather, so this replica of a tornado that she could make swirl was fascinating to her. She could not stop playing with it, & said she planned to sleep with it in her hand!

I think I love it as much as my children! My 5, almost 6 year old son hasn't quite mastered how to create the tornado, but loves watching it while we spin it (and I don't mind doing it for him since I think it's totally cool, too!)

The product was just as described. You swirl it, and a tornado is formed. The product seems pretty sturdy and does exactly what it claims.

It's amazing that such a simple toy continues to be enjoyed day after day in my classroom! I teach 4th and 5th grade "gifted" students. We are in an area where tornadoes do occur, so the kids are particularly fascinated with the facts on the back of the item. Since they're so interested in the subject, we formed groups to research different aspects of tornadoes. They've been investigating how tornadoes are formed, how they're rated (according to intensity), where they occur most frequently, how they are predicted, signs of an approaching tornado, what kinds of damage they cause, tracking tornadoes, and current scientific research. I plan to purchase several more "Pet Tornadoes" for the classroom. The price is reasonable, they are very sturdy, and their appeal seems never-ending!

My son (10) likes all things weather-related. I thought it was just so cool! It takes a little practice to get the tornado swirling, and it only lasts a few seconds before it disperses, but it looks so neat while it is going. Just like a tiny, real, tornado! I love the idea that this is a "pet" tornado that my son can take with him anywhere. Very nice product!

As a grownup, I had to read and reread the directions carefully to "create the tornado." Once I figured it out, it is really pretty cool but I'm going to have to explain it carefully to my son who will be opening it tomorrow...

I still have not figured out if you are supposed to shake the toy and slam it down on a table or just shake it. Without directions it is hard to know if you are using this toy right. The tornado lasts about 30 seconds or so each time you shake it. Sometimes, the tornado is hard to see amidst bubbles. It is neat to watch. It did not keep the attention of my 3 and 5 year old kids for more than a couple minutes. It would be nice if some directions and an explanation came with it so I could explain what is happening in the tube to my kids.

Purchased as favors for Wizard of Oz birthday party. Have let my grandson (4 years) preview the Pet Tornado. He loves it. I believe the party guests will enjoy theirs as well. Tornado facts on the toy are interesting and have prompted a great deal of interest in tornadoes as well as weather in general.

My 5 year old son has been obsessing over tornados for the past few months and this was perfect for him! It does make a really cool little tornado and helped him to understand a little better how they work. On the down side, it took a while of playing with it to figure out how to get a really good tornado going, but once we figured it out, we couldn't stop playing with it!

My son is a 30 year old autistic man and I got this for him. He had one several years ago and it fascinated him and I've not been able to locate one until I saw yours! He also loves things that make light like prisms or "disco balls", things of that sort. It will be a Christmas present but it DOES work and I know he will love it.

Somehow, I got the idea that the "tornado" would actually stick around in the tube for more than, say, 3 seconds at a time before having to stir it back up again. I was disappointed with this product, but am planning to give it to my son anyway.

You give this toy a circular shake and a tornado forms. It only lasts for a few seconds, but it is very cool. My 8 year old son is fascinated by tornadoes. He really likes this toy.

I gave Pet Tornados to my 6 year old granddaughter and 8 year old grandson. They both were fascinated by the tornado-like action. I can say they were definitely very pleased with their toys. I am certainly glad I bought them.

This is a pretty simple yet cool toy. It requires some manual dexterity to get the tornado to happen. Very portable and looks like it would take a few knocks without breaking. For younger kids, having a handle (think bike handle) option for the bottom may make it easier to get the whirlpool going. It would be nice if they reformulated the glue for the product ID sticker need something like goof-off to remove the residue.

These tornadoes are weak and short-term. My boys found Tornado Tubes to be more fun then Pet Tornado.

The Pet Tornado is fun for young and old. Nice to keep out to play with meditative results. I really like the design that looks like a farm field just waiting for the tornado. All it takes is a flip of the wrist to bring it alive.

My grandson really enjoyed the Pet Tornado. He is six years old and is really into hurricanes and tornados. However he cannot make it work by himself. An adult does it for him for it to work correctly.

How else could someone get to create a weather catastrophe in their very own hands?? A toy any Storm Tracker would love to have and share. Awesome without be aweful ! A few inches taller woule be even more awesome to watch....perhaps a few peices of debris included - barns, roofs, cows?

Our 5 year old son was fascinated with this toy. It is enjoyed by the entire family - seeing who can get the largest tornado formed. A very simple toy at a reasonable price.

We love the pet tornado! My 12 year old wanted to purchase this item for my 10 year old son who had a rough week at school as a fun pick-me up. I did not think much of it as the item is very inexpensive, but since we have had it had home, it is constantly in someone's hands! The boys love to see who can the various types of tornado listed on the back (F-1, F-2, etc.) or whose lasts the longest. And I have to be honest, it tends to find its way to my desk in my home office and when I am, I play with it!!!! It is quaity made and has great information about the various types of tornados on the back. It is fun and educational! I would recomend it as a gift for children or as a fun desktop item for your boss!!!

At least it wasn't expensive! If you swirl it just right, a tiny tornado does form in the tube. Frequently no tornado is visible and after a while, my grandson grew tired of it. Perhaps he'll pick it up again later and re-visit the tiny tornado....hmmm..... a book might have been better.
