Worked nicely

Rating:

My son used this for a K science project and it worked nicely. Leaked a little bit, but could be that we didn't thread it carefully enough.

The tornado tubes worked great! The kids loved them and wanted to know where they could buy them. I told them fatbraintoys.com, of course!

Tornado tubes are easy to use, cheap, and kids like them.
Posted 4/10/2008 by Karla Lagunas

I used these with my class to conduct a science experiment on tornadoes. They are easy to use and sturdy. I would just offer a heads up in making sure that the 2 liters have no plastic rings on them before you attach the tubes, otherwise they will leak. Also, when we did variations by inserting sand, etc. the tubes clogged up, so if you're using this in a science experiment I recommend measuring out the amounts before passing it out to your students!
Great product! My students (5th graders) loved using them and it didn't require much prep to get them going!

My son has always been fascinated with toys with simulate weather. A friend of ours has this product and one day while visiting, my 6 year old son played exclusively with the Tornado Tube. Needless to say, we had to get one for him to create an inexpensive learning opportunity!

We purchased the product for a science project and it is very easy to use, does just what it says it will. The only problem I have is that it does leak a bit.

Rating:

The tornado tubes did not make a tight seal with the soda bottles and we had a lot of water leakage.

I am a preschool teacher and have found that my class never tired of playing with our room's Tornado Tube. It was the star of the show during our weather theme and conitnued to be popular as the year progressed. So much so that I decided to give every student their own tornado tube as a graduation gift.

They worked fine. The directions could have been been more detailed. We found they worked better if the plastic ring was cut off the soda bottles, otherwise there was leakage.

My son likes the tornado tube. He enjoys seeing how large of a tornado that he can make. It has leaked some & we covered it with duct tape, which didn't help much. He still plays with it, but we just keep a towel handy.

The connectors were purchased for creating sand clocks for an afterschool program. They are also used to make the hurricane and students enjoy them.

relatively simple, requires additional bottles but this can be a good thing - teaches reuse. once discovered it doesn't have longevity. more of a novelty.

We ordered some Tornado Tubes for use with an object lesson in conjunction with Group's "Living Inside Out" curriculum ("Storm Chasers" edition). The tubes work fine, but they could probably use a rubber gasket to keep water from leaking around the edges when the 2-liter bottles are turned upside down to create the "tornado."

These are great yet inexpensive items to use for hands-on science demonstrations in science centers or in classrooms. These were purchased for use in South Africa with rural Zulu students.

Not only do they make interesting tornadoes - they double as great connectors for sand-timers.
